I do find it amusing that folk, especially some very outspoken ones, are only now looking at the frailties of the coaching team in not having an attacking, cutting edge, specialist. I have constantly asked questions of Bruce and his whole coaching set-up and tactical ethos; I have held a thought that the coaching confusion, as that is how it appears, really set in when Agnew left for Boro - can somebody point to anything significant from Phelan?
I find it ridiculous that anyone can exonerate Bruce of his responsibility and lay the blame on HIS players. I think it equally laughable that we are compared to Chelsea and Man Utd - it seems to have escaped someone that both of those clubs have experienced management changes, Man Utd more than one in a similar period of wobble as us.

Phelan might have more influence than you think, I was watching him go absolutely crazy at Diame yesterday for shooting from distance rather than playing a simple through ball, granted that was just one thing but he obviously isn't going to hold back from having a go at the big egos. I don't think Bruce would have him just to be his lackey with no real input. Yesterday seemed like a bit of a turnaround for me in terms of the tactics, the start was much improved and they simply came out with a higher press second half and battered what are supposed to be a good side

Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle played worse football than us more often. We conceded last minute goals on a number of occasions. We switch off for five minutes in a game and lose points, that doesn't mean we were a worse footballing side than those teams.

You seriously think we played worse football than Villa last season? Than Sunderland? That side that stayed up because two goals went in off the asses of Everton players? You clearly don't watch much football.

I only saw one notable long shot from Diame and would not understand why it would be frowned upon. Stoke' s opener would have driven him mad, then? <whistle>

You've been in the sun too long if you honestly believe that Syd - the table doesn't lie after 38 games, however you want to dress it up, we were the third worse team in the PL.

So you're honestly telling me that a Milner FK going in last minute, and Sunderland deflecting two goals in off Everton asses means they're objectively and unequivocally a better side than us?

So in parallel universe where Milner's FK misses, and Sunderland lose to Everton, our side is objectively and unequivocally better because we finish higher?

The table lies all the time you docile twat.

    Dig up.

Try actually answering the question I've posed in a way that doesn't make me burst out laughing.

Are you saying that Leicester are the best side in the PL? That their squad is the best squad? Because the table doesn't lie?

There's no point replying to anything you post - you're a nugget who honestly doesn't get that the table doesn't lie after 38 games.

So Leicester are the best side in the PL, because over their last 38 games they're first?

That's not strictly true. Chelsea are evidence of that this season. A team full of players who have just won the league are languishing in the bottom half of the table. Gotta agree with syd here, the table can lie all the time in terms of who's the best team.

However, we were relegated for not being good enough, nothing more. It wasn't unlucky, it was because the players that we had to cover the injuries we sustained were nowhere near Premier League quality.

As Sterling has said, you've gotta be joking if you think the table doesn't spit out anomalous results.

You still haven't responded to my question regarding Milner and Everton. If those events don't happen - neither of which is directly impacted on by the quality of our squad - how does it magically change your perception of our squad?

We're on about why Hull City were relegated - we weren't good enough after 38 games to get to 17th place .... end of, the table doesn't lie.

No we weren't good enough as a whole, but there are contributing factors to that. Had that squad stayed fit, we'd have had a better shot at it. Had we brought in better cover instead of relying on the likes of Alex Bruce, David Meyler and Sone Aluko it could've been different. Had we been a bit more tactically aware instead of winning a game and then deciding that was the best formation to beat every team in the Premier League, we might have stayed up.
