The positive take is that we have the forwards to see us safe already here imo, the less expensive players to recruit are defenders, and if Big Sam can get two or three in, plus cover for AJ, we should, even after our next game, be in with a very good chance of making the great escapa reality.

Lens is a talented attacking player.

Here he's been expected to be a secondary left back to a bone idle left back.

He's not been given a chance in Sam's 5-3-2 where he could have thrived with less defensive responsibility.

    People say Larsson works hard???

He hides from the ball and runs aa bit huf n puff because hes always so far out of position.

Secondary left back? haway man, Lazy ? He couldn't even be arsed to to warm up/ get involved in training or whatever it was.

We are Sunderland after all mate and every player needs to perform defensive duties. Only teams like Barca, Bayen and Leicester (jk) can afford these type of luxury players, and I doubt he could oust the Tea lady at any of these clubs. Lets hope Sams Suck it up Buttercup speech the other day will get him grafting a bit.

PVA was ****e and less then brilliant this season , but has had zero support and probably isn't a LB.

December 26th. It took 360 days to find the most depressing thread of the year. But here it is.

That's not a comment on you SC, just the sad, grim realisation of where we are right now.

This, I think is probably a very good summary.

Change the manager, spend a bit, change a few players, little or no improvement, last gasp escape. Again and again. Same old same old. It wears you down.

Hahahaha Sorry lads , it is **** !

Any consolation there will be 3 sides below us come the end of the season imo. I honestly think we will stay up last ditch AGAIN! Villa, Norwich and Bournmouth, with us and the Nags surviving on the last day . West Brom are looking a bit sketchy as well.

Cracks will be papered over, 1 or 2 5-10 million plays brought in next year, full of optimism AGAIN Johnson found not guilty, rodders full pre season. We all talk about how they will be like new signings, etc etc etc etc etc. Then back here next xmas Sam walked or about to walk, ****ing football groundhog day.

Club needs HUGE investment or this cycle will continue for years to come.

At least this time around, the powers that be KNOW that we have to sign defenders or we are down, simple as that.
I don't blame Bily Jones or Coates, they just aren't PL standard, it's not their fault, it's the lack of fight that really gets to me, you don't have to be PL standard to put up a fight but we just havent got what it takes.

After giving the matter a great deal of consideration, I have reached the conclusion that the powers that be know **** all.

They`ve had years and learned nothing.

edit : Sorry mate, being a misery. I`m off to bed. It`s starting to wear me down.

Ah but the powers that be now don't have the tug boat of a dof pulling their purse strings... They now have a manager in place giving them the instruction... If they don't take notice then we are ****ed!

Most of the players we have got have at one time or another shown that they have the ability. What we need is for them to show it week in week out, show some fight and most importantly play for each other as a team..

Lack of consistency is the problem, to perform as a team regularly enough to get us to mid-table is beyond them. Injuries to key players like LC and YK have not helped due to the fact that we have no viable cover for these key defensive players.
Mind you he keeps picking one consistent performer DG. :headbang::headbang::headbang:

We have been talking for the last 10 years like this and will be for the next, if Short does not realise what we need.

Understand your emotional post but When did BSA become inept ? One of the better premiership managers at an under performing club - I m sure he'll get it sorted to escape relegation - if we fans are negative what hope is there
We have some second rate players not good enough - we've been in a worse position than this - I just think we will pull through
