Hernandez may go, I'm not sure there will be much interest in others. Maybe someone might take a punt on Huddlestone based on reputation.
If the price was right, I'd have a look at Alan Judge, he's in great form and has 10 goals from CM already.
If Abel Hernandez was to go. We would want £10mill, as much as I like Abel Hernandez we could use that money to buy Rhodes. Although I doubt Hernandez will leave....he's worth about £15mill to us now, as we have few strikers and he's our highest goalscorer, unless he has a 'get out clause'
I imagine if he has a release clause it will be higher than the 10m we paid for him.... Which would be hard to turn down. I imagine he wants to stay and have a go at the premier league like he arrived for and struggled initially , now he's got to grips with the physicality etc I would hope he has a point to prove.
He's finally starting to kick on, starting to improve, showing touches of class like today which underlined why european giant clubs were very interested in him only a couple of years ago, and why we spent so much to get him here. From what we've seen so far, £10m would be a brilliant return on him as we could probably get someone in who could make more impact right now, but if he keeps improving and we get promoted he will be a huge asset next season and I think we'd struggle to get a player of his ability, let alone for £10m, unless it was another Jonny who needed another couple of years to start blossoming. I've always stuck to my guns that he's got a real touch of class and I'm glad we're finally starting to see a bit of it. A lot of players from abroad struggle for a long time initially, it's not just the game itself that's different but the entire lifestyle. It doesn't matter if you're a footballer or a foot massager, you always perform better when you're settled, happy and confident. It had to be hard for him initially, not just the massive downgrade from where he was in a nice hot climate to rainy old hull, but also family living and first child born half way round the world, whilst he's over here barely knows anyone, couldn't speak the language etc.
We almost got Rhodes last season - and he wanted to come - but then Blackburn slapped a £15 Million price tag on him. Nothing to say they would reduce that now.
Burnsy today was implying that Paddy Madden at the Scunts would be a good signing for City? He's scored 14 in 28 games this season from the wing in the league below. Apparently he's quick, skilful and runs direct at defenders - he is probably the type of player worth a gamble.
So happy that Hernandez is kicking on like I thought he would, despite some of the more clueless doubters on here that share my country. His value has completely repaired itself and if we were to sell I would expect us to be after 12-15m.
Well lets hope we don't go there. As it is, he's leading the line and the money wouldn't get us what he gives. Just not sure why everyone keeps going on about Rhodes, if he was that good, some Premiership club would have been in for him by now and what Blackburn wanted for him would be considered cheap.
Getting cash for your top scorer is never a good deal. Keeping your top scorer and having no cash is better.
If Hernandez leaves, then so does our one proven goal scorer. That would be mental. I believe we sign to another proven striker irrespective.
Why are people even toying with the idea of selling Hernandez? Look at when we sold Long (who I felt was our best striker). Yeah we got 12 million but we didn't replace him properly.
He's a striker, rather than a winger and last time he was in the Championship he looked out of his depth and was flogged without ever having scored.
He was a bit naff, but he was playing at Yeovil last time, the season before that he finished as their top scorer in League 1 and I think he'd be much better in a better team. He's a lot like Fryatt in his finishing ability, I quite rate him. I imagine Scunthorpe will want a hefty amount, so it's probably not going to happen.
