Eventually in favour of whom though? Certainly not us because we fall away every winter. It's a trait of our manager - that specialist in failure. My Liverpool-supporting long time friend and former colleague reminded me yesterday that Arsenal fall apart in the winter. No wonder MOTD pundits are sceptical about our chances of success. Wenger deludes the fans. We should take note of history.
In favour of TV ratings. All some twisted Skysports conspiracy to make it "even better than the most exciting league in the world" The whole season has been fckin ridiculous. Some fcking TV executive somewhere is playing war games with our football
The point is - we should be taking destiny in our hands. Instead, we won't reinforce the squad but rely on returning players, some of whom like Welbeck are near proven failures.....
Tbh I have you as favourites still. No disrespect but everything you say would be right if everyobe else actually pulled their finger out, but seeing as the rest are fcking pissing away their chances, you are still in the best position. I said this a while back, there's no winning here, just different degrees of losing That's how the title will be determined this season. You still comfortably edge it on ability and performances tbf.
Thank you but I wish I had your confidence. The only thing I am confident about is that Wenger will hardly buy or buy cheap in January. He'll say that despite the hard work, we could not find anyone with quality we do not already have. Now let me see, that would be a broken Welbeck, a miss almost as many chances as he gets Giroud, much as I like him personally - an ageing Arteta, an indifferent at times back four, a misfiring Ramsey and the likelihood that our physic room will be choc a bloc when the going gets rough. We should have said hasta lavista to Wenger and brought in Klopp. At least he exudes enthusiasm. Wenger simply demonstrates cluelessness. Time he departed to be honest.
Mate compared what we have at the moment, Wenger seems a godsend Be careful what you wish for fella. Your time will come and it could be a turbulent time. Much as I think Wenger has sometimes snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, I think he is good enough to get you over the line in such a shoddy league and season. The best thing that could have happened for you is the instability at City caused by Pep's announcement, the walking disaster that is Van Gaal, and Mourinho going "full ******" at Chelsea.
But on the flipside... Those rivals are all possibly the shi**est they've ever been while we have the longest serving and most experienced PL manager... And we still seem like we might not do it. We should be romping this league. We're second rather than first because of AW. We might win this league but if it carries on like this it will be a particularly naff league to have won. Put Usain Bolt in a 100m race against three OAPS with zimmer frames and him winning in 14seconds wouldn't impress many.
I feel the same about my team though. I think every fan of every club from the usual top 4 clubs must be feeling this way. But at the end of the day, Arsenal are there, probably still playing the best football and (no disrespect to Leicester) ARE to all intents and purposes top of the league. The league is sh1t. The quality of defenders, midfielders and strikers is poor and couldnt hold a candle to those a decade or more ago. But after 11 years it wont matter a jot how good or bad the league was if you win it.
It will if everyone remembers it being a sh** league. And they will unless something miraculous happens.
Sorry about that idiot winding you up. The referee was **** tonight and we got very lucky with the second goal. You must have a special place in hell reserved for St Marys. Hopefully you put this behind you quickly I want you to win the league. Just don't thrash us too much in the return fixture in February.
But this is a massive 'if'. One of the key reasons why I'm sceptical about our title chances is because we don't reinforce necessary parts of the squad when we have the opportunity to do so in the transfer market. We don't seize the day. We had a massive opportunity to upgrade and add more quality in depth in the Summer and we didn't take advantage of it, Cech aside. As I've said before on this thread, if you play the same team week-in, week-out for consecutive games with short resting periods, they are inevitably going to get worn out and it showed tonight. If we had added a couple more players in the Summer, we may have been able to cope far better. Because now we have another game in 48 hours where we're going to have to field pretty much the same XI as yesterday when they're going to be knackered, physically and mentally. In any case, so many of the top teams have had a string of horrid results this season, but never have any of them been dicked and utterly dismantled like we were yesterday. If we want to win the league, we can't be getting thrashed by teams like Southampton. Poor results against Norwich, West Brom and West Ham are bad enough.
But when else are you going to play league games in such short succession. Not being funny but you could have a poor couple of games right now and it would make no difference by the time we get to March. This league is fcked it really is and I'm not sure it will get much better. I wouldnt be surprised if you ended up winning it with a lower than usual points total BUT still by 6 or 7 points to the team in 2nd. You know just thinking about that just fcks me off over Van Gaal. He killed our season FFS!
Every point dropped makes a difference mate. I know we're not going to win every game because that's not realistic, but to still not find out the root cause of why we get so many long-term injuries is problematic. Not signing a single outfield player in the Summer is problematic. Making the same mistakes EVERY year is problematic. Not being able to take advantage of other teams slipping up to go top, when we've had several opportunities to do so, is problematic. Yes everyone is beating everyone and yes there are plenty of surprise results, but I'd rather we try and win the league on the merits of our own performances and results. To get so comprehensively dominated by the 12th best team in the league is not just embarrassing, it is an abomination.
I think you know this bit isn't true, yes they are in 12th but are realistically a top 6/7 team. Chelsea are 15th, are they really the 15th best team in the league? All teams are having strange results and poor performances this season, the fact that you are still 2nd means you are more consistent than most. If you can keep this consistency through Jan/Feb (your worst months normally) then there is no reason you will not win the league.
I hate to say it but I couldn't agree more. We should simply get the job done ourselves and not have to worry about others. Instead like every season we are reliant on misfortune falling on our rivals. Can anyone imagine a Utd under Ferguson doing that? We have something in the region of 200m in our various accounts yet we are unable to ensure we have a squad that can withstand injuries. How long will it be before the likes of Sanchez, Ozil, Cazorla and others tire of the empty promises and hopes that come apart. For greater than a decade we have either not been able to compete or thrown away our chances when indeed it appeared as though we were able to go the distance. We have lost four games so far this season to Leicester's two. It wouldn't surprise me if we drop two more games. Leicester against a resurgent Liverpool were only beaten by one goal today. Against a club outside the top ten we were humiliated by four goals without reply. Wenger should have been very ashamed. Instead he seemed quite indifferent when interviewed. Well why not? He's only after fourth place, after all. #specialistinfailure If Leicester should win the league, I hope it shows up Wenger for the fraud that he is and then is shamed out of office. Then, we might get in a manager who wants to and knows how to win.
How many players do you want in your squad? You can have 25+under21s. All teams have injuries, that is why you have a 25 man squad, you have to manage with what you have like everybody else. You will never have a squad containing 25 first team players, if they are good enough they will not sit on the bench most of the season. You have one of the strongest squads in the league yet all I read on here is that you need more players.
What's funny, is we can go top of the table on Monday if we win. That would be a nice way to forget about this result. We definitely need to go out and bring in at least one more midfielder when the transfer window opens that's for damn sure, our squad is so thin right now, so it's time to buy that 1 outfield player we didn't bother buying during the summer.
