We've got a taste of our own meds, a final minute defeat.

It's basically what some people will argue we deserved after being dominated for the first 45 minutes, and missing great chances.

There were some comendible performances. Personally, I don't think we should have pushed so high up the pitch that late on while Anita was injured. We took a risk and it backfired.

    Ratings -

Elliot - 8 - Excellent saves, kept us in the game.

Janmaat - 4 - Better 2nd half, but still wreckless and lucky to be on the pitch

Mbemba - 8 - Fantastic blocks and challenges.

Colo - 7 - Some good play and some great blocks.

Dummet - 7 - Seems to have really improved. Dealt with danger pretty well.

Sissoko - 7- Some great runs, and put chances on a plate that weren't taken. Overdribbled and lost possession at times though

Anita - 7 - A bit shakey first half on the ball, but some great work off the ball. Good anticipation, interceptions and challenges.

    Colback - 5.5 - Okay.

Wijnaldum - 7 - Probably could have done better with his close chance, but some excellent dribbling and hold up play.

Perez - 5 - Couldn't influence the game enough, but came close a couple of times.

Mitro - 4 - Missed some great chances and overplayed the ball. He doesn't seem to be able to turn a CB very well.

    Thauvin - n/a

MOTM - Mbemba just above Elliot.

Dummett was fortunate that Everton didn't use their pace against him! He did put in a few good blocks but was at best a 5.5!

Sissoko was at best a 6.5. Some good runs, some good play but it seemed to me as if him and Janmaat play the same position, just Janmaat runs back so they end up getting in each others way.

Sorry - just re-read your comments and am still shocked Anita was less a 6.5 and deemed worse than half of the rest of the squad when he and Elliot were by far our best players followed by Mbemba, Doesn't help our players when Colback is **** and we have 4 players (Sissoko, Gini, Mitro and Perez) who don't come back from attacking positions so at times Anita was covering 3 midfielders, Janmaat, Mbemba and Colo! He also showed more drive then anyone else to try and win!

Dummett was awful. I'd give him a 4/5

    Both full backs were!

However, we created chances despite being poor in the first half and that bodes well! Hoping that it's just a goal that might kick off Mitrovic! I like the fact that Gini and Sissoko swap reguaraly but concerned that our central midfield is left solely to Colback who turns more than Parker ever did. Felt sorry for Thauvin as well - he should have come on earlier than he did! Perez looks knackered! Would have also given Tiote 10 minutes as well!

I'm worried about the use of two defensive midfielders every game. They completely bossed us in midfield. Anita and colback sit so Dee it's clear we are setting up to not lose every game and hope to win on the break. It means that there is a huge gap between midfield and up top and thus we concede a lot of possession. Gini does not help dummett. Mitro looks slow. We missed some good chances today and we need to start picking up points.

    this
I'm pleased someone else has noticed this
Dummet comes in for a lot of stick but many times is left with 2 players to mark
I had someone bawling in my ear all the first half about Dummet, not getting tight to Lennon
wonder what happened to him, as he never returned in the second half <whistle>

The fullbacks were buggered because Gini in particular was absolute **** at defensive play, giving him 7 is just taking the piss.

I thought dummett did quite well today. He's definately not getting hell off Gini and it's does mean he is doubled up on. I like Gini going forward but he is a bit lazy at getting back. This season in the whole premier league there seems to be less emphasis on quality and more on work rate. I'd love mitro to work out for us but I can't see him getting goals. He would have been brilliant in the 90,s but at the moment he's so slow and lacks any positional sense. He just seems like a solid brute of a forward. We need some new players in January.

He was brain dead today, too many underhit or off course passes in the final third and stupid back heels, missed an absolute sitter of a header that he should have buried.

We got suckered today. Our midfield do not close down enough and Mitrovic putting CB's under pressure is just non existant. I honestly can't see the point of playing 2 defensive MF's especially at home as it causes too much of a gap between the front players and our MF. This for me just brings pressure on our defence and it wasn't a surprise to see Everton have 76% possession in the 1st half.
Mitrovic is struggling and missing sitters so I say young Toney must be brought in against West Brom to add pace. Janmaat is starting to really disappoint and I honestly thought he was playing to get sent off as he doesn't fancy the trip to West Brom, the man is so reckless.

The problem is we have as you said spunked 30 million of cash on two more duffs. Aswell as 10-12 million on cabella last season. Gini has been ok. But wasting all that money on three players who can't cut it is crazy. we desperately need some steel in midfield and pace up front.
