A new Meire classic interview is currently doing the rounds on You Tube Many moments of unintentional comedy gold are contained, including her belief that the Championship is not fair because clubs buy promotion, and that she hopes to persuade the other 21 clubs to follow the highly successful Charlton model She also openly admits that selling Academy players is the model, and that the "Saturday experience" is NOT SOLELY ABOUT THE STRENGTH IF THE TEAM () she then admits is of "variable quality at the moment" (sniggered again at this point). So deluded, it is f*******g scary. Best quote of all is this one: "Fans don't see themselves as customers. And so whenever I now get very 'friendly' (sniggers) e mails from fans, they say "Get out of OUR club" . So it's not the shareholders club? I think it is quite funny because they say they pay- the ticketing system is one third of our revenue. They go to restaurants with their family and they go to the cinema, but if they are not satisfied with the product do they scream at the person in charge? No they don't. They do it at a football club because they feel a sense of ownership and that is weird" With comments like this, Meire has proven again that she is not only way out of her depth - she is a bloody danger to the future of Charlton. She has got to go.
It just proves that she has no concept at all of what football, (any team, any level,) is all about. How can you be a CEO when you don't understand the basics of the industry you operate in. Incredible!
Not just incredible, frightening. This is our kids football club this woman is destroying. She is absolutely delusional. And a liar too.
The 22 min interview can be seen on You Tube now. "Breaking out of the second tier * - Katrien Meire" * - by taking Charlton into the 3rd
Another unintended gem is when she tells the Irish interviewer the RD aim is to "Sell players to the Premier League" - although Charlton fans can enjoy seeing them play for us before they go It's career suicide.
Is this our present from Sint Niclaas? Man, some of that is terrible. If she feels like that, she should write it in the program.
Well from the grounded down under perspective, i'll weigh in say she is definitely a fake face for the press, she would know her words are not true. she is just keeping her job, somewhat improving her resume for other future endeavours. Such a shame our club was picked out, it could have been one of many.... It's xmas, i have a week off, the food is looking great (BBQ Pork worked its way onto our xmas home menu this year) its festive season, but Charlton's plight genuinely gets me down. Weighs hard. Even though i dont have the history/closeness you guys have to the club, being so far away. This current regime is pulling us apart at the seams, and it would seem methodically, for detriment only. I wish you all a Merry Xmas, have a liquid fave or two and try to enjoy ! Trevor
Up early sir! Happy Xmas. Young mare has had another shocker there. It's as if she is doing it on purpose.
AHLL At least we cannot say we were not warned, the contempt is now there for all to see. Bile n'vitriol in the finest traditions of a2c is the only logical response. Merry Xmas to everyone on 'ere.
"Last season for the last 2 months I found myself watching games where the players were disincentified to play". Not pleasant watching, but she did say "Maybe a new manager". She still believes that it's all a marketing exercise, her tone is very self-righteous, butt's also clear that the protests have got to her. Whatever was in Roland's head when he appointed her? Merry Christmas everybody!
It's sad. I should feel pissed off watching it - but nope. Nothing. Glad I'm missing it tomorrow - though Boxing Day football is a tradition. Between this and CAST doing a full 180, it's pretty dismal being a cafc fan right now.
I watched the interview again, and I'm going to find it hard to get motivated to go to any more games. Particularly annoying is her habit of saying "obviously", or "everybody knows" before making a contentious observation. When she made her sly digs at the fans she seemed to be looking for support from the other two, but she didn't get it. She also stated clearly that the Championship is the only league which does not have a salary cap. And she actually believes that our problems will be solved by better marketing. A complete car crash of an interview.
The beauty of it all was that it is on youtube for all to see. No lost in translation or misinterpretation, get yourself out of this one squirrel face.
It will just be swept under the carpet like everything else. Imagine a CEO of ANY other company going on like that - they'd be called out. This should now be our catalyst though, I'm going to forward it on to a few individuals and urge those active on social media to link it to personalities that have loosely picked up our story in the press.
Someone has posted again on CL that Duchatelet and Meire have frequent discussions about Uganda You have to be a Private Eye reader to appreciate this one, but it explains a lot.
I thought his girlfriend was the 'owner' of St Truiden. Maybe if I shag Roland he will let me play up top instead of the lanky Dane
