The Mem gates have been vandalised overnight. Im sure the genuine reds will be equally disgusted with this. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...s-vandalised/story-28419382-detail/story.html please log in to view this image
This is an absolute disgrace The article on the Rovers website is worded very well as 99.9% of City fans will be outraged at these midless idiots
I know some reds will say it doesnt matter as we were selling the war memorial for a sainsburys. But only the gates are actually graded as a war memorial and not the stadium. And these gates were staying put where it is now and a memorial garden was going to be built around it where it will be a more fitting place instead of just in a lane. So I hope no one says this as some sort of justification of this disgusting act because if anyone does, you are just as sad as the individuals who did the vandalising. As Rovers said, true Bristol football supporters would be disgusted. Thats covering both sides. So anyone coming out with a justification is not a true supporter and should be ashamed. Hopefully no one will come out with it.
Just want to add that City fans have set up a paypal account to get donations to clean it up. Proper fans that
I have read it on otib this morning. 1 has even said thet bet it was our own fans to make City look bad. However in that same thread, most comments have been very supportive to us and disgusted towards the sick individuals who did the act. That thread also has the paypal donation details.
Like I said... Proper fans However, this isnt the 1st time the gates been vandalised and I doubt it wont be the last time. Im sure everyone both red and blue would rather have names of those involved if you know what I mean.
City statement.... Bristol City Football Club are appalled to hear a minority of so-called City supporters have desecrated the Memorial Gates. We join Bristol Rovers Football Club and the wider Bristol sporting community in condemning this action. Anyone found guilty of carrying out this mindless act of vandalism will face a lifetime ban from Ashton Gate. In the spirit of Christmas, we are working with Rovers to ensure that the graffiti is removed as soon as possible. I have to say, the response by those at City (officials and fans) have been brilliant. Yes we are rivals but also we do come together as well. Like when we donated to help Oskar and some gasheads went on that walk as well for him. Just need to catch the prats now and name and shame them.
It makes me feel so ashamed, I take part in banter but this disgusts me to my soul, I would rather watch a game of football with a genuine blue at the memorial than any of these soulless scumbags, I am with you all on this one. I hope you all have a peaceful Christmas......wiz.
It's a disgusting act. Yet it's also something that has brought decent Bristolian football supporters together, and to all of you I wish a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and prosperous New Year x
Any civilised human who doesn't ware a tracksuit bottoms with a hooded top and a Burberry cap would find this disgusting
Can we please stop calling whoever did this FOOTBALL SUPPORTERS, no genuine supporter of any club would desecrate a war memorial in the name of football
It's totally disgraceful what these idiots have done, and very much at odds with what the overwhelming majority of City supporters would support. This is the kind of thing which should be consigned to the past. People were doing things like this in the 80s.
