Ramsey closes in on QPR return in new-look role

Get West London understands that Chris Ramsey is set to make a sensational return to Queens Park Rangers. Despite being sacked as first-team manager in November, he is closing in on a new role with the Championship club.
The 52-year-old is said to be wanted by director of football Les Ferdinand, especially as the pair still have an excellent relationship going back to the time they spent together with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. It appears that ex-Spurs and Newcastle striker Ferdinand is to offer Ramsey the role of technical director.

Get West London are of the understanding that this role will include overseeing tasks such as monitoring potential loan signings ahead of the January transfer window. However it is said to be an ‘extensive portfolio of duties’ that Ramsey will be expected to take charge of.
Ramsey departed Loftus Road, leaving the club in 13th place in the Championship. Ferdinand felt as though the club were underachieving after they adapted their initial targets during the season. A 1-0 loss at Derby County appeared to be the final nail in the coffin for Ramsey, although he is now closing in on a return, just over a month after moving on.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is now the new manager and leaving his role with Burton Albion and has so far overseen an unbeaten start to life with the R’s. There is necessarily anything for the ex-Dutch striker to worry about, especially as Ramsey won’t be applying pressure to be reinstalled as first team manager any time soon.

Technical Director? WTF does that involve? This man is like a bad smell that won't go away.

He has certainly been involved at all levels of the club in his short time here. Youth Team coach, first team coach and now Technical Director all in just a little over a year. Does anybody know how he deserved such a meteoric rise from Youth Team coach above about 5 levels of other Management that were already at the club? Despite doing only an average (at best) job in his first team coaching role and deservedly been sacked, he now comes back as Technical Director.

I wish I could work for a company that will treat me like that.

All I can say is, our DOF has put his head on the block if these appointments don't improve things and quickly.

It seems the curse of QPR is often too many chiefs and not enough indian's, or a few chiefs but not having a clue what's best...<doh>

    I agree with this.

While I actually don't mind the prospect of CR overseeing all football matters up to, but not including, the first team, it does beg the question of what a non-technical, non-financial director of football would do? Presumably reading TF his horoscope down the phone and managing the Feng Shue of the treatment room.

I assume the sensation is CR getting the best paid month's sabbatical from a club threatened by FFP?

I have nothing against Ramseybut to bring him back means only one thing ....... Jobs for the boys.
WTF, what will they think of next?

If TF really wants to waste some coin, we'd be better off bringing SWP back as a team mascot.
If half the team goes lame on seeing Ramsey in the dugout, SWP could always strap on the boots and run the ball out of play.

I like Ramsey, think he is a very good coach and we are only 1 place better off now than when he got sacked. I still doubt it was worth sacking him, think he'd have done well eventually with decent support from Les and us supporters, but he never got that. If JFH wants him back and can use his skills it would be good, just hope Les asks him first!

It sounds like a non-job or a duplication of Ferdinand's supposed role. Completely unnecessary.

Then again, if he's getting paid off anyway, at least he earns the money to some extent.

I feel I've wasted my time studying when I could have just sucked off Ferdinand and been given a six figure salary and an office at Harlington.

Sir Les has become the Director of Delegation, he'd be well-suited to work in Local Government...
