Still makes me jump to this day! <laugh>
The use of the barrels was a genius idea to minimise us seeing the shark (since, apparantly, the model hardly ever worked), and John Williams' score sets the tone to perfection. To think when Williams sat Spielburg down and said, "I have your theme tune" and played it on the piano, Spielburg burst out laughing and thought Williams was taking the pi$$.....little did he know it was to become probably the most iconic movie theme of all time ! :)

Well Force awakens watched...I liked it! Fun romp, great action sequences and despite being episode 7 had the distinct feel of an origin story while still paying homage to the "legacy" before it.

I will bet that the second film delves much more into the "new" character arcs.

    Good Job.

I agree. Many many plot holes that will never add up but those are unimportant to the movie.

Fun romp sounds about right. It broke no new ground imo nothing really added to the star wars universe or anything really awesome for the cinema that everyone else needs to follow either

    It was just plain good.

Just back from Star Wars (3D) and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it <ok> Admittedly it's far from perfect (a tad floppy at times) but I like it more for that, the originals weren't perfect either.

It's like a proper reworking of the original story, some lovely touches and a scattering of comedy moments. A real throwback to exactly what Star Wars was all about in the first place :)

The Hateful Eight - solid Tarantino film with shades of Res Dogs in parts but not directly.

The film is a slow burn but when it all starts coming together you're hooked. Characters are developed very well. What I really like about the film is this:

    1) You're never sure who your sympathies lie with.
    2) Who you can trust.
    3) Who each character at any given time should trust.

As a result the tension builds very well. Not his best work but still very good. It IS a slow burn though (over two and a half hours) so be prepared.

    8/10

Not been a fan of his work since Kill Bill 1 but this does look worth a watch.
