As a companion thread to DTs best single album thread, what was the first music you ever bought, or stole if applicable?

Mine:
Single - All the Young Dudes by Mott the Hoople
Album - Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - David Bowie

Both 1972 I think, when I was 11.

Good start, I listen to them still. But I bought a lot of old crap after that.

The first music I remember buying myself was the Beatles For Sale album. I think it was six and eightpence.

First single: Gangsters by The Specials, which I heard on the radio and went straight out and bought. 1979
First Album: Talk Talk Talk by The Psychedelic Furs with my first wage packet. 1981

Both from Slough Record Centre on the Farnham Road, a favourite teenage haunt of mine...

My 1st single was a double purchase of don't you want me baby by the Human league and spirits in a material world by the police.

I was five or six years old! Happy days<cheers>

Single - I was 10 years of age, it was 1971, Another Day by Paul McCartney & Wings. Bought it as a single ( played on 45RPM if I'm correct )
Album - 1976 - Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton ............... still love the album.
I was trying to write the lyrics whilst playing the record .................... my mum & sister saw what I wrote down afterwards and accused me of being on drugs!

Footnote - The benefits of having an older brother was that he bought most of the music. My bludging started at an early age.
