Well, my Christmas is ruined - have to have all 4 injectors on my 09 Corsa replaced and it's only done 35,000 miles. For all you car people on here, does that suggest another hidden problem? £1086 out of my pocket in one fell swoop

Petrol or diesel Helen? It seems odd that all 4 have failed at once, as most tend to fail individually, and can be replaced individually. I wonder if your mechanic did a proper diagnosis to work out which injector is faulty, or whether he is taking the piss by suggesting all four are faulty.

As she has already paid for it to be done, suggesting she may have been diddled will hardly make Helen feel better. :(

Would this be like an upper house only your committee being composed of you and your privileged mates sounds a bit like the House of Lords.

I didn't even know cars had injectors. Wheels yes, exhaust yes and something under the bonnet which I look at every now and then just to make sure it's still there. :emoticon-0112-wonde

It might as well be as I've no idea what I'm looking at. I always spend 10 minutes trying to remember where the little lever is to open it!

I don't know on my new car....though I discovered it had a release lever for the petrol cap under the driver's seat.....the first time I put petrol in. Luckily there was an instruction manual in the glove compartment.....as I discovered after standing next to the petrol pump scratching my head. The really frightening thing is that I still know more about cars than my son does.<laugh>

This forum doesn't need a committee, it needs a dictatorship and I could be just the dick to lead it....

Before the women on here spot your post, you mean A BAD COLD don't you. If you had the flu you wouldn't even have the energy or interest to type.! <laugh>

But my sympathies. I've just overcome a fairly bad cold myself. Awful to have the snuffles around Christmas. But cheer up. The shortest day has passed. We're on our way to Summer. Yippee.! :)

Tbh, I'm surprised that the most recent cars don't have a sticker on the front of the bonnet saying... NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE, because once you do open the bonnet there's precious more than a curved sheet of plastic covering the entire area. It's a safety feature for many. :)

Did you see that Jeremy Vine was reported to the BBC for a sexist comment....he said he had man flu<doh> He should have got a medal for admitting it. But you are quite right...there is no doubt if you really have flu. The test....a £20 note is on your lawn....would you get off your sick bed to retrieve it....if you would, you haven't got flu. Only had it twice....unbelievably awful. Like you are made of hot lead.

Pretty sure you've got a cold, not flu. Hope it doesn't spoil your Christmas though.

I think he may be taking the piss. Bearing in mind also that the diesel will be Common Rail type [step forward Markus Liebherr] it may not even be injectors at all, but their replacement hides a problem further back down the line.

Yeah, I did vaguely hear about that. Good on him for being honest.

I have had real influenza myself, way back as a child. I had hallucinations, nightmares, sleepwalking, fever like I've never experienced since, and I was bed ridden [where I got the energy to sleep walk I don't know] for something like two weeks or more, if memory serves. I think my parents thought I might not make it, at one point. All it was, was a really bad flu strain. As you say, there is no doubt between a bad cold and real flu, so I never do manflu. :)

Anyway, I hope Tom gets better soon. Even if not flu, it is perfectly acceptable to feel sorry for yourself and hope for sympathy. <hug>

Only had flu once when I was 19 I think.....couldnt get out of bed for days and nor did I want to eat (and I eat a lot).
Too many wimps these days (especially where I work...men and women) cry off sick with flu when as been mentioned it's just a bad cold.

Was doing a BBC quiz yesterday about the news of the past year and a question came up that made me giggle.

Q: Why did an Iranian man tell police he disliked Manchester so much he wanted to be deported?

    A1: The rain
    A2: The people
    A3: The food

Correct answer: 25-year-old Arash Aria walked into a Manchester police station in September and demanded to be deported, because he said the people were "rude and violent". His request was turned down when it was established that he was in fact in Britain legally.

Felt a bit sorry for him, but I couldn't help but giggle a bit. :)
