People criticising Odubajo... I did say before we signed him that he wasn't a right-back and plays at his best on the wing. Bruce has a tendency to put square pegs in round holes but I would have thought he'd resolve this by now. He's been playing Odubajo in the wrong position for four months now.
I was in my local chinese a few days ago, and was looking at the Scores on the Doors or whatever they are called now. The owners name was Mr Wok Hang Lau on the certificate. It made me chortle.
I haven't seen any evidence whatsoever to suggest he's a winger! He can't even cross a ball, surely that's fairly high on the list of requirements for a winger?
No he's not a winger he's a good young full back who's made a few errors. As young players do. Same as Robbo. Two 22 year olds and a 21 year old in our back four. The fourth person in that back four isnt playing to the standard he can or showing the leadership he can and should
He actually did start life as a winger, his profile has him down as right winger or right back I don't think age has anything to do with it, he has over 150 league appearances now. When does age become irrelevant and league appearances become relevant or do you just use the one that most suits the point of view? I wouldn't call a 22 year old with over 150 league appearances inexperienced and therefore they shouldn't be making the schoolboy errors they are. I would call Akpom at 20 with 40 league appearances inexperienced, therefore the mistakes and errors are to be expected.
If he didnt make any mistakes he'd be playing for Arsenal. Do you think he'll be better next year, cos i do. Same with Robbo and Maguire.
He was a strange signing for me. A position we didn't need to strengthen and it probably took a large proportion of our budget, which should have been spent on a centre forward. We still look poor up front - Anne Diamond hasn't convinced me yet and Akpom and Hernandez whatever their current merits were not tried and tested at this level. The most important position on the pitch and we have no Championship hardened or experienced forward, that is our weakness, and I am sure if we don't go up this season will be the main reason.
I'm not disagreeing, I think Elmo was on his way, thats why we signed him. I like him, I've seen enough to know imho he's a good player and a good signing.
He may well be, but he and Elmo do not work both playing down that right side. On Saturday Dave looked terrified to go beyond the half way line, whether that is instruction or communication between the two I'm not sure. We need to go back to 3-5-2. We simply do not suit 4-4-2 with the players we have.
He can cross a ball. He possesses other traits to suggest he's a winger, for example, good dribbling, good touch and pace. He's a much better winger than full-back.
