Gray is class though. Cuco wasn't really scouted. It was basically he is cheap and Erwin knew him. Hopefully Mugabe gets fit again.

If mane wants to go, he will go. Maybe not in January, but for sure in the summer.

This is how it will be. People are mad that we supposedly buy cheap, but the reality is that we are a feeder club. All we can do is hope to stay up, buy players to flip, and sell enough at massive profit until such time as we have deep enough pockets to make a viable run.

It won't be easy, and we will likely fail just as pretty much every other club has done since the SKY era. Happens in every other European league as well. But we can give it a run. Maybe there will be a game-changer we can take advantage of, I don't know. But the most important guy in the organization is not Reed or Koeman but Krueger.

Kreuger isn't Cortese. On the footballing front, Les Reed rules the roost. Within reason, Kreuger will give Les what he wants.

Unless he improves his form dramatically the Big Boys won't want him......doesn't take Einstein to work that one out, even a footballer should be able to reason that surely. Suggest he gets his head down, knocks in 12 goals and terrorises defences until the rest of the season

Spoke to a mate yesterday who's wife knows Charlie Austins wife and he apparently held talks with Villa,Everton and Newcastle in the summer but all said no because of his injury record.....hasn't ruled us out but his wage demands are £80,000 a week.
That's quite a rise from the £38,000 he is getting at the moment, so surely if we loaned out Gaston we could afford him.

But.. but... we would be buying cheap talent instead of paying top dollar for proven talent. And then he will push out our own Academy prospects!!!

Seriously though, is he on a professional contract or is this one of those players we can just take from Charlton and then pay them back a year from with leftover Christmas party lunches from catering services? I'm surprised we are not taking much bigger advantage of the EPPP. Even though in a way I'm also happy about that because the EPPP is terrible.

As far as I know, he's on his first pro deal, as he only joined them from non-league last season.

However, they're desperately trying to tie him down to a new deal in order to keep hold, or demand a higher fee. He hasn't signed that.

If we aren't going to spend, I'd love to see us do more of this. Can't have a team wholly comprised of kiddies, of course, but supplementing our Academy by poaching from the FL is cost-effective (if morally ambiguous, heh) and one of the few avenues available to acquire genuinely top talent, if we aren't going to buy them ready-made.

We're even meaner than Wenger when it comes to splashing the cash.

That's clever; allows them to get the benefit of having him this year, but they can wait to see whether they'll get the benefit of next year's revenue jackpot before shelling out.

To some extent, with the difference being that Bournemouth is likely doing it contingent on survival, whereas in our case it was more dependent on his performance...it's a way of committing next year's TV deal now, without actually having to spend it if things go awry.

Yep, agreed. I'm sure that the survival part has a higher reasoning than ours did, yet it also gives them the chance to consider performance too. We also did it with Elia and Filip where it was definitely performance valued.
