Or it maybe a case of Klopp simply not fancying Toure. Similar to Klopp choosing Origi over Benteke.

Whatever it is it was interesting as Klopp decided he needed something upfront more than a specialist cb.... Toure for me is well past it but there you go.

In any event. ... just as Klopp was proved wrong on Firmino at no 9 so was he with poor origi... but at least the ball didn't always come right back when he came on...

I find it interesting as Toure certainly didn't need a rest or anything so Klopp might have decided to make the needed attacking changet and make do rather than waste the sub on injury.... either way it didn't help.

    In attack or defence.

And his choice to put Lucas in defence instead of Can ...

    Yes. Certainly a big call.

Any way we cut it it did nothing for us but we didn't fall apart either as we did that the moment bogdan dropped a catch I'd make

  5. That was the more surprising aspect for me. Was it a case of not wanting to move Can again or did he want to see what Lucas would offer back there? Maybe he felt Can offers more going forward so wanted to keep him higher?

Yep, I think it's because Can is the only one in midfield who can run with the ball and drive towards into the other half.

    Shame it didn't work ...

  7. And by bringing Origi on and dropping Lucas back, it became a 4231 formation, Can and Hendo were the two. Probably better than a Lucas & Hendo partnership. the best pairing from that trio would be Can & Lucas but we were never making two changes that early or putting Hendo at CB <laugh>

I was struggling to see what Can offered full stop yesterday. Apart from being an arsey twat and having perfectly gelled hair that is....

You can apply that to everyone else who played yesterday.

I think he offers a bit of muscle / strength in the middle, something we severely lack around the pitch. He's a good runner with the ball but you do get the impression he'd tried to run through a freight train if it got in his way too.

He had a poor game. It happens. He's only 21 but he's expected to carry our whole midfield. His size and arrogance on the ball leads people to believe that he's older than what he is.

The person next to him is 25 and is our captain. The person behind him is Lucas, who is experienced and is supposed to be a leader.

As mentioned, he's 21. His potential is clear for everyone to see. Nowhere near the finished article but I predict a bright future for him.

I'm still not sure what he actually is in terms of his position. As at the minute he's not got the positional awareness and discipline to play a holding role in midfield imo.

He played it once, I think it was against Swansea at home. Bossed it.

Personally, I think he's better suited to playing box to box which is how Klopp has been using him.

Lallana must have thought the one thing he brings to the team is a well groomed beard/hair combo.

Can is number 1 in that field.

There is a TV advert as well with him walking into the Times offices and saying "its taken a long time but at last I have made it"

See, I do listen to you sometimes :emoticon-0100-smile

It never moves. His quiff defies both gravity, sweat and wind.

    Marvellous.

His hair is definitely amongst the European elite.
