As an old boss of mine once said, "when things go wrong, happiness is having a scapegoat to blame" <yikes>

    Love the Quo!!

You could have had "Down the dust pipe" but it might be "Rocking all over the world" come season's end but "What ever we want" is a new manager.

Spot on, Monk should have gone at least 2 weeks earlier and if he had been a foreign manager or had not been at the club as a player he would have gone. That lack of action by our board could cost us our PL status. Relationships though should not come in to it, ultimately we are a business and they should have acted earlier.

As for the game, it was clear we were crying out for a bit of width and pace, They had a slow centre half in Tomkins playing at RB for most of the game, Montero would have had a field day against him. I thought we played well apart from we just didn't have the width or the pace to get behind them, which was a shame.
I thought Leon was outstanding yesterday and shows how a bit of game time has got him back to his best. To be fair I thought we were pretty good all around apart from up top where we could have played someone from the U16's because we had nothing there apart from being offside constantly. I think Rangel has got his RB spot back as he gave us so much more than Naughton. I also hope GM watched the performance of Fernandez as well and realise what an idiot he was to leave him out for Bartley.

Having nobody on the pitch that resembled a winger for us heaped a ton of responsibility on Britton against WestHam , although the Hammers parked the bus at times , but in true Leon Britton form .................And played the entire game .....heart of a lion .

Agree Trunds. That was our best performance since we thumped Cardiff nearly 2 years ago. What yesterday showed is that we have the player/ability etc, it's that we are stuck with a donkey up front.
If we had a Bony or Michu (at his best) we'd have scored a sackful.
Taylor also had a good game yesterday, and attacked with the ball too.

Still can't understand why Montero wasn't brought on around the 55 minute. We were crying out for pace.

Hypocritical oaf that you are. Go back and read the posts again. You couldn't possibly have gone to the same school as Taff. <laugh>

There must have been a game plan which didn't feature him. Which brings me back to a comment I made a few weeks ago. Do fans really think they know best, or are managers (and assistant managers) just plain stupid?

Well we'd been crying out for a certain line up/formation for weeks and in Curts first game, he dropped Gomis and played Ayew up front ;)

And it worked a bloody treat. The tactics and set up were spot on however, we could have played WHU without them having their goalie on the pitch and Gomis still wouldn't score. By pushing Ayew up top, we could have had a fresh Montero/Barrow on at 60mins to run at a knackered WHU defence and create space for Ayew, Gylfi, Ki etc.

As it was, in some respects we played into their hands - and even made Collins look a good player <yikes>

Talking of Collins, did you see him rolling around like a baby pretending his head wax hurt when he stopped Ki's shot with his hand?

To be fair to him, Ki landed and elbow and knee to the back of his head when he landed on him...don't think it deserved the rolling around bit, but I figure he thought it best to make the most of given he knew it could have been a penalty.

As it's the season of goodwill to all men (even to Collins) ........ ok.

But I still suspect that if Ki was nowhere near him, the antics would have been the same.... <cheers>

Deliberate handball in the penalty are, blocking a shot that's on target. Could have been a red card too. I don't recall Ki making contact with him though.

No ones mentioned the fact that he blasted the ball, when under no pressure, into the lower east stand. He could easily have inflicted serious damage on someone - and he knew exactly what he was doing. Kairdiff wa.nka.
