Southampton are well drilled and we all know this will happen soon so lets get some practice in. The january transfer window will come and there will a huge amount of interest in your players with loads of them being linked to big money moves. I hope we've learned our lesson and wont be involved but we'll use my club as we've been brilliant at this in the past. So the headline appears in all the tabloids. Liverpool make £15 million bid for Mahrez! A terrible offer of course that if real will end up with the club paying absolute crazy money. Your reaction on here is what's important though so go nuts and get some practice in, by the time it happens you'll be swatting away the wums like pros.
1st we´d be very, very stupid to sell our top players in Jan & that´s for 2 reasons. 1. It will **** our season up (imo) & 2. If/when we sell Vardy & Mahrez in the summer they´ll fetch another 5 mill on top of what we can get now. I doubt the club would want to sell for less than 70 million as things stand. I mean there are some pretty average players out there that are costing 15 - 20 million so as more & more goals go in & performance ratings are rated high you´ve got to say 35 million each. What did we pay for Mahrez 5 mill ? & 1 for Vardy, it´ll be a good return but I would want to keep both for another 2 seasons.
Mahrez was 400,000 Euros! About £320,000. He has to be the bargain of the century. Can't see either him or Vardy leaving in January. As I've said before, if one of the Spanish giants comes in for Mahrez in the summer then I would wish him all the best. And I can't imagine the club would agree to Vardy leaving in the summer unless we have another top striker in our sights by then. And if we do end up in a Champions League position at the end of the season then either one or both might well be tempted to stay and see the job through. Much can change between now and the start of next season and I'm sure Steve Walsh et al are out there looking to strengthen the side for the next campaign.
So if the player starts pushing for that move (agents will push them) I feel there has to be more venom and anger especially towards the buying club. League position should certainly be brought into it and you're going to do well there. Other than that a bit of abuse and a few nasty comments would be in order.
Not really, if they want to go, fine, but we will be looking for the best price we can. No-ones going to publicly lowball an offer to unsettle them that we will accept, good example is Spurs and Berehinio last year, measly bid after measly bid in the hope that WBA would just crack.
I fully expect that to happen though, some clubs will come in and try to unsettle the player and attempt to get said player at a low price. You've got the power though and the fact that you're top and not just doing well will make the players want to see what happens at the end of this story. We're not going to win it so like most I want you lot to get it done.
No offence to Liverpool but he won't be going there - he will go to a Champions League club and if we are one, I can see him staying. If not, he signed a new deal 6 months ago which removed a £30M clause - shows how much we rated him at the time and if there is any other clause in the contract, it will be at least double that.
That would be a top response to some wum like HAIG who would wander in here if Spurs were in for him.
Exactly, he's too good for the British 'big boys'. If he leaves to get European success he needs to go to a European team as our showers of ****e won't get anywhere soon
.. I have it on good authority that Barcelona are seriously considering a swap deal of Suarez and Messi for Vardy and Mahrez ... some may scoff but it is also being rumoured that they are mighty serious about it and would even be prepared to throw Neymar in as a 'make-weight' ... personally I'd tell them to get stutffed
I heard a slightly different one. Real Madrid want co-ownership of Mahrez and are prepared to add to Barca's offer of Messi and Suarez by offering Ronaldo and Bale to sweeten the deal.
Thing is though our owners don't need to sell and the reason there is such a good team spirit & togetherness and ultimately our league position is in fact down to how the club as a whole look after them, above and beyond the call of duty !
Glad to hear it and also see it on the pitch, it's a pleasure watching you fellas. We'll batter you though.
