... there are as many contrasts as there are similarities to the teams you mention ... unless you are merely referring to league position? ... indeed Spurs might be included in the 'new breed' if you we are talking about teams currently exceeding expectations ... and whilst the doom mongers keep warning us of our demise should Vardy or Mahrez get injured, on the evidence of the highlights I've seen of the Southampton game, then Spurs fans should be very worried about either an injury to or a transfer attempt on Lloris ..one of the best individual performances I've seen from a keeper this season ...

You would expect that Lloris at nearly 30, would want to play Champions League football soon if Spurs can't break into the top 4.

Do you think Chelsea should buy Vardy, or is he a one-season wonder?

    #2543
  4. To be fair, I think that every season, PIXIE. Of course, we have finished 4th, in the past few seasons, so it's hardly going to be a surprise if we do so again.

  5. I think you should wait until at least another season before making your move for either Vardy or Mahrez, CFC. Let them prove themselves, first.

Honestly?? ... I think he has 2 or 3 years when his pace will guarantee double figure goals a season ... but there is much more to his game than just the scoring ... in our last 2 away games we have scored 6 goals without him notching ... but he has had a key part in all 6 ...

... but we don't need Roman's money - or anyone else's for that matter .... so I only think we will sell if Vards pushes for a move ... same with Mahrez or any other of our crown jewels ...

In terms of signings ... I think you should set your goals more modestly ... you might get Harry Kane from Spurs who are undoubtedly a selling club <laugh> ... still a one season wonder and not proven ... and unable to force his way past Vardy and David Nugent (yes I know that's funny <laugh> ) when on loan with us just a couple of season's back ... <whistle>

It's not really a regular occurrence though is it ? Over the last 5 seasons Spurs have only finished 4th once and your average finish has been 5th.
Over the last 10 years you've only finished 4th twice and your average finish is closer to 6th.

  8. I think that Mahrez and Vardy will gradually grow despondent and disillusioned with the limitations of the rest of the Leicester squad, and he will quickly be looking to move on. I only hope that you Leicester fans have the good grace to wish them well, Fossil.

Leicester don't need to sell Vardy or Mahrez as they have a billionaire owner. Funny that Chelsea and Spurs fans are resorting to trying to wum Leicester though, speaks volumes about the fear they have :)

  10. That's rather harsh, PIXIE. I can't see that either CFC or I have wummed.

Maybe it's more desperation that wumming. But as I've said, Leicester don't need to sell Vardy or Mahrez as they have an owner who can keep them at the club. Also if they do finish in the top 4 this season (or even go on and win the league) then those players aren't going to want to go anywhere. As a spurs fan, you should be more concerned with players like Lloris, Kane, Erikson who will want CL football sooner or later. If Spurs can't offer it to them, then they might be tempted to move to a big club who can.

To be fair, Sol Campbell needed to move to a big club to realise his footballing ambitions. He was in a dead end career at Spurs and justified his move to Arsenal where he became a double winner and decorated with winners medals <ok>

...<laugh> .. all true ... but I just couldn't resist an 'owning' response when he was bending over <laugh>

  15. Simply writing "Sol Campbell" doesn't get you to "own" anything, Fossil, but it does, of course, enable you to dodge my question.

    <laugh> ... true to form ...

OK just to indulge you ... should Vards and /or Riyad Mahrez move on from us to a bigger club, for better prospects, I'm sure we will wish them well, or at least deal with it with far better grace, and dignity, than Spuds fans did when Sol Campbell did the same to them <laugh> .. because, at the end of the day, we are, after all, realistic!!!!

    ... and that is all.

  17. Campbell betrayed us by leaving in such a way that Spurs made nothing from him, and added insult to injury by joining our deadliest rivals.

It would be the same as Vardy running down his contract, promising you that he'll sign another one, but then leaving on a "free" to join Walsall.

To be fair to Campbell though, Arsenal are only Spurs' rivals due to geography. In terms of footballing achievements, Spurs' rivals are Everton and Villa.
