I don't have a problem with Tyson Fury being a candidate...personalities are diverse. His views are rather archaic...if he can somehow add racism to his already burgeoning arsenal of offence he could be on a par with the Queens husband..almost.
I think it would be pretty funny if Tyson Fury won to be honest. The BBC, and all the political correct idiots would love to see the male chauvinist, homophobic gypsy lift the award! He'll be getting my vote anyways
Don't think they were quite doing it then, being devised by the magnificent Paul Fox in 1954. But Richards was knighted which is unique. McCoy thoroughly deserves it.
AP should be knighted too. If a bloody push bike peddler can get one, why not the greatest exponent of hunt racing, the world has ever seen? Arise Sir Anthony.
He's not a contestant is he? I thought Phil had given up the 4 in hand. Anyway he's not all the things you say Fury is because he's Greek for one thing.
Fury is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. So he has some strange ideas, and a tendency to talk without thinking? It's not as if he's running for president of the most powerful nation on earth.
PEDANT MODE ON Why do they call it the “Lifetime Achievement Award”? Most of the recipients are only, at best, middle aged – like AP McCoy, who still has, hopefully, half a lifetime to live. There was no chance of Lester Piggott winning it because he did stir for tax irregularities – and he had two bites at the cherry by coming back to the sport after retiring. Who is to say that somebody at HMRC will not come up with some dodgy expenses claim by AP in a couple of years’ time? I know that we all call him “Phil The Greek” but he is not really that Greek. Yes, he was born in Corfu and his Greco-Danish dad was exiled from Greece when Phil was an infant; and his mother was a German descendent of Queen Victoria. We may as well start calling The Queen “Liz The Kraut”. PEDANT MODE OFF
Most tales mention three Furies: Allecto (endless), Tisiphone (punishment), and Megaera(jealous rage). Usually imagined as monstrous, foul-smelling hags, the sisters had bats' wings, coal-black skin, and hair entwined with serpents. They carried torches, whips, and cups of venom with which to torment wrongdoers. The Furies could also appear as storm clouds or swarms of insects. Myths Encyclopedia.
Not nominated because the people in charge of selecting the nominees for the vote correctly realised that she had no chance of garnering enough votes to be in the running.
So Kevin Sinfield (Rugby League), Tyson Fury (Boxing), Chris Froome (Cycling), Greg Rutherford (Long jump), Adam Peaty (Swimming), Lizzie Armitstead (Cycling), Lucy Bronze (Football), Max Whitlock (Gymnastics) do. I haven't even heard of some of these
This maybe so, but equestrian sports are one of the biggest participation and followed in this country. Most of us are to busy doing or following to waste time watching this garbage. I used to be a fan of the bbc, but it's looking really tired these days.
Its time the bbc curtailed its obsession with footie and used some of the money to televise other sports. Long gone are the days when they showed the Horse of the Year show each night it was on. Olympia is relegated to a bit on Sunday afternoon and a highlights on the main channels and a couple of nights on the red button. Racing used to be on every Saturday when I was growing up - that was so long ago I still remember Nijinsky winning.....
Have they really? Well ****adoodledo Do they have a Sky Sports Personality of the Year or on-line streaming SPOTY. I didn't realise that you had to be on BBC to qualify. Well that explains the stupidity of it all. I'm not watching it anyway. I'm watching Show Jumping at Olympia on EuroSports
