My lasses son is 16 in February and he's addicted to it. He literally comes in from school puts it on and doesn't move. We have told him for months on end he needs to start helping around the house especially when I'm not there as my lass is disabled. He doesn't though, won't do a dish, won't walk the dog, won't tidy up, won't offer to help his mam with anything. He keeps saying he will but never does because of the ****ing computer. I've been warning him for the last month that if he didn't start pulling his weight the computer was going out of the window. He didn't listen to that either and carried on living in his own world and doing nothing we were asking of him. I came in the other night and he was lying on his bed, joy pad in hand while his mam was hoovering around his bedroom floor. I literally disconnected the thing by pulling it so the wires came away, walked to my bedroom and flung out of the top window and into the street. Should have listened to me. Lazy little ****.
Brilliant. Well done mate! Lazy sods think the world owes them a living. My three have had a great work ethic thank the Lord. They all got jobs when they were young in shops, restaurants and pubs. Couldn't get them to do much in the house though. Mind you, I was a lazy twat when I lived at home.
Nail on the head mate. The point I've been trying to make to him, is that he's got absolutely zero work ethic and is potentially going to be starting employment within a year. He's simply not ready, he's got no life experiences and doesn't have the mental toughness to go somewhere and put an honest days work in. He just doesn't get it. My mother made me have a paper round when I was 13, then I upgraded to a milk round at the age of 15 I was ready for work though when I left school, I had already been doing it and putting the effort in, I knew no difference thanks to my Mam. Most lads my age were the same. Total different ball game now though.
That's exactly what I did. Paper round then milk round. That was canny hard going that, two years getting up at four, six days a week then going to school. My parents had f*ck all when I was young, no fault of their own. If I didn't earn, I didn't get.
We just done it though, wanted the money and it's that simple. Kids these days just get given everything on a plate. Mind, I don't think I could be up and out of the house for work every morning at 4am these days
My two teenagers both have paper rounds as did their older brother. If they want extra pocket money I usually make them do jobs to earn it..
