Frazer, Bru making a creative difference...now Varney. Still time for Freddie to nick one. Too much respect, too defensive 1st half! Crowd urging them on!
Nothing to get too down about. We're not going to win every match and we weren't played off the park. Bring on the hoops.
Disappointed but not that unexpected. Derby and Boro are my 2 picks to go up automatically and Town are playing for play-offs and have a realistic chamce
I could say the free mince pie at half time(thanks ME!)was the highlight of the afternoon but that would be a bit harsh. The class gap was a bit too much to bridge and proves there are 3-4 teams in this Division better than us.I can't see us closing that gap with MM at the helm he is too one dimensional.
Do we need to close the gap? As long as we make the top six I would say we've had another successful year. Will I be bothered that we weren't quite as good as a few teams above, no, I won't. I don't expect us to be the best team in the league and I don't expect us to win every week.
I was expecting great things from Derby but in all honesty they were fairly mediocre and scored from probably the only decent passage of play in the game. First half was poor and the ref really didn't help. I think he was poor for both teams and seemed to slow down a rather slow game for no need. We improved with Fraser and Sears in the second half adding something but none of it really had an end result of us threatening their goal but at least gave a bit of intent. really it was a typical Town performance with Sears the only sign of real attacking spirit, Knudsen looking out of depth and safe yet uninspiring performances from many of the rest. I thought the game was bland but I suppose I would be more worried about the game if I was a Derby fan. Our team was assembled for nothing and we were bog standard. They spent about 20 million to be nearly as average as us.
Exactly TB, we matched them up fairly well and can be proud of where we are in the table considering our transfer policy. The football is not the greatest but it is effective and has us troubling the top six, something we didn't manage when shelling out the cash.
Will I be bothered? Dam right I will and I'm afraid settling for second best just about sums up the ambition of ITFC and some of the supporters
If we want to have a realistic chance of leaving this Division,it won't be by scraping into the Playoffs by the skin of our teeth.
I wish I'd seen the game, haven't seen a minute or the goal yet but did think a 1 goal defeat was quite likely. Regarding play offs, it makes no odds where we come - and also, sides that scrape in quite often go on to win it. I would love us to come top 2 but that isn't going to happen this season, so a play off spot is what I'm after. Three more very difficult games on the way then I guess we'll know more.
If we can get good results against the rest we'll be up there too. Nothing wrong with being the sixth best team in the league if that's how it ends up.
Some of us want to be better than that sd, as mentioned before too many happy to settle for mediocrity these days!
