He's played at both numerous times, including at RB for the first team. If anything your friend has got the two points muddled up - his big money signings have paid off (tadic, mane, pelle... I believe Clasie and Romeu are both good), but the youth haven't been given a chance!
Ehh... I only don't like it when players are left rotting in the bench. If McCarthy is playing every game and doing well on loan then leave him at Wycombe. It's not like Juanmi, Clasie, Romeu, and Cedric are all that old. They need a chance to adapt to the league and improve as well.
Yeah, ignorant on every level to get on Targetts back (though I never heard any abuse aimed at him from where I sit). I thought he was at leastas good in that position as Bertrand has been since his return, though lack of pace might hold him back a bit.
Well he's not really got it muddled up. That is what he said Koeman was like previously. It may be that it's just worked out different here, or he really doesn't believe the youngsters are up to it.
I know, I was being tongue in cheek (didn't come across very well obviously!) I can understand Koeman not wanting to throw young players in during the premier league. What I don't get is why even in the cups/Europa games no one was given a sniff. Why wouldn't he give Seager a start in a cup game after playing so well? Why not give hesketh a go from the bench? It's like the club's Southampton Way philosophy is eroding away slowly. We have the players to finish top half. We just need them to reach their potential again.
Every time I've sat in the Northam he always gets an awful amount of abuse if he takes a bad touch/ doesn't take on the fullback to deliver a perfect cross. Even if he hesitates and decides to keep the ball/pass it rather than run forwards like Roberto Carlos he gets abuse. It's embarrassing
I haven't watched much of Spurs, this season (the joy of not having Sky/BT Sports), but within 5 minutes of the game starting, it was clear to me (IMO), that Long should have started instead of Pelle. My reason for thinking this was the very high line, the Spurs back four held, which was crying out for someone to break through from midfield (fat chance I know) onto a ball over the top, or for someone to get on the shoulder of the CBs, and trouble them with pace. Their CBs actually played with quite a gap between themselves and their full backs, and the gaps were there to be exploited. There were, I think, two occasions in the first half when a pass was on, between a CB and FB, but the pass wasn't made, possibly because the runner was Pelle. Each time the ball was shunted out wide, to Tadic, and the chance was lost. Just feel this is something that could/should have been noted by someone on the coaching staff.
Yep McCarthy is a cb. We start our cbs at rb though and then move them in. Like what we did with Chambers.
My dad playing at cb with messed up knees was actually the first. At least he would have stood up and blocked the ball.
I thought it was one of his better games. The player who I thought looked worse was Juanmi. He gave the ball on at least two occasions, and they were relatively simple passes
Bloody hell things are heated here! I actually think it a combination of lack of midfield defence/control and fullbacks. The keeper merry go round doesn't help either. Not sure what can be done but my gut feeling is that classie and wanyama in front of the defence don't work. Romeu might work a bit better, I just don't know.
Not sure if this was mentioned yesterday, but I thought Toby was excellent yesterday. He made one great block in particular from Mane (I think).
