If there is the slightest suggestion that Pep intends to leave Bayern Munich and join us I can see LVG being sacked and Giggs taking over again. It's not as if we have anything more than the Europa Cup or domestic trophies to worry about. I'd be happy just to let the players run wild under Giggs for the rest of the season and see what happens
I'm not as carefree as you GF. I was never a big fan of Micky Phelan as Fergie's assistant but right now I'd take Giggs with Phelan until the end of the season. Where is Phelan these days.
Good call, but I don't think Phelan or Rene would work anymore (in the sense of them having the same authority and reputation among the players ) as neither of them still carry the authority of the 'big man' - could be wrong, and certainly couldn't be worse.
Imagine that happens. Uir is going to have to go full astro and from hating the man hes going to be the new messiah
We should jump on the opportunity to get Mourinho whilst it's there. I've been against the idea of hiring him for years, but short term success is better than no success. LVG did well last season to stabilise us, but his whole philosophy has failed. Once we spent 300 million and started the season with one striker it was obvious that the wheels were falling off.
So you seriously think a broken man will bring you short term success? And what success would that be?
I don't see him as a broken man - a bruised ego perhaps, but not a broken man, on the contrary I would imagine he feels he has quite a point to prove.
Broken man? A bit of an exaggeration there. I suspect he'll bounce back relatively quickly wherever he next lands. Short term success doesn't refer to this season. A top 4 spot is the only realistic target. More that at every club he goes to he has a strong first two seasons, prior to falling out with everybody. With the finance he'd be given i don't see why a title in that time would be a crazy thought, it was only a few months ago he last held that trophy.
I had to go to a dull party this evening. A Bolton fan pointed out a stat I wasn't aware of (and we all love a stat!). So we've won 1 game out of the last 10. Astonishing. How come it's taken so long for some people to realise what a spoofer the manager is?!
So it has nothing to do with the fact Man Utd have quite possibly the worst strike-force in the premier league? Decent defenders, some worldy mids... Who is upfront? Non-league chubber Rooney, a kid still in nappies, and oh yes, Fellaini
Well you say that, and it sounds obvious because you've come from an era where Sir Alex would have strangled the bollocks of anybody who made him have certain players, or sell them, but that's not the era you're in now. There's no way Van Gaal said "just Depay, Rooney and Fellaini are enough to start this campaign with". No ****ing way.
It was his decision to sell van Persie. His decision to sell Hernandez, the one I agree with. It was his decision to loan out Wilson AFTER transfer deadline had closed. His, no one else's.
He had full control of who we bought in the summer. Woodward said as much. I don't personally think the players up front are the main problem anyway, or that changing them would suddenly change the style of Van Gaal's football and make our football any better. When your tactics are to knock the ball around in front of the oppo's defence and then get it out wide for cross-field passes into the box, changing the front 3 aint going to solve that.
From the BM website - Pep Guardiola (44) will not extend his contract with FC Bayern München. The German record champions’ new coach from 1 July 2016 will be Carlo Ancelotti. The 56-year-old Italian will receive a three-year contract expiring on 30 June 2019.
