Personally, I think Krul, on his day, is better than Elliot at shot stopping, but I think in terms of positioning, Elliot is better, and he's also better at distribution. He also controls his box better also. IMO Elliot seems to be the better keeper, but what do you guys think? + Tim Krul seems to be becoming injury prone. If we can find a good replacement, should we sell Krul, get a solid keeper, and have Elliot as cover? Back to reality - What will happen is that we'll sell Krul and keep Elliot as number one and if we're lucky we might buy a young championship keeper.
I probably wouldn't actively tout Krul around as for sale as he has been an excellent long standing member of the team. But...I don't think he should be default number 1. He should probably have to fight to get his place back. I REALLY don't like his kicking. I find myself wincing every time we pass it back to him and I think he brings too much pressure on the team as a result. He has got to improve this. I agree I would probably rather have him in a 1 on 1 situation though.
Since Krul appeared on his debut as a gangly youth (in what was an incredibly erratic, if promise-filled performance), he's not really improved in many areas, accept cross collection. Krul is better than Ellliot, easily, but Elliot has improved and seems full of confidence, so credit it to him. Long-term, neither are world beaters, but then again we never will be under Ashley. I've been encouraged by the last two games to say the players in front of them perhaps aren't completely ****e, but they aren't great.
I don't think you can make a real comparison between Krul and Elliot as Elliot hasn't played any where near enough in the PL yet, I think Elliot has done well though and has made a real contribution in the last two wins, one thing that catches the eye is the long throw out that he has.
Keep em both. For me Krul is the better keeper but he got complacent because he was an automatic first choice. Hopefully if Elliot continues to improve Krul will feel he has to fight for his place and will work harder. We have more important positions to fill before we start messing around with goalkeepers.
Krul needs to eat some protein and bulk up if you ask me but hes definitely still our number 1 Elliott is good but there's something wrong with his chromosomes so id be more inclined to keep him on the bench
Rob Elliot Key Skills: Organization Positioning Reactions Tim Krul Key Skills: One on one shot stopping Agility Sypnosis: Rob Elliot is the most rounded keeper but if you merged the two it'd make for one great keeper.
I think one of Krul's key strengths, and what tips him as number one, is his cross-catching when he is on form. That part of his game is world class. He picks them out of the air better than every other keeper, with most of them flinging flimsy wrists at it. Rob is fitter and stronger than he has ever been, and deserves credit for the work he has put in. He looked like a number 1 tonight, and has indeed for the last few weeks. Goalkeeper is defo not the concern at present.
Elliot is doing well and gaining good experience which is good news for ROI as he's been in the squads. It could be a good year for Rob,No.1 for Toon and Ireland,a win-win for me
Krul really needs to work on his kicking. The thing with Elliott - He's far more vocal and commanding.
Good point. Elliot seems a vocal leader on the pitch a d is English (although plays for Eire) so has the edge for me. He would be a better mentor for Darlow too.
