Really bored. Just done this quiz from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zq7d2p3 It's says I should take up extreme sports. Which I intend to do by starting with a little light Christmas shopping with the mob, shouting at idiots who insist on riding their bikes on the pavement, and mixing my drinks a bit tonight. Do they count?
Extreme sports? I tried snowboarding and got held back on the training slopes and then went renegade until I hit my head enough times to regain my senses and spend the remainder of the week at the free bar. I'm halfway to extreme ironing but haven't tackled the height aspect yet. Does pool count? I much prefer that.
Pool and ironing count hugely more than snowboarding, which falls under the category 'poseur sports'.
Extreme Sports for me...which makes sense as the only sport I have ever played on a competitive level outside of school was table tennis...don't get much more extreme than that.
I already surf skate and extreme kayak and wish I could climb again but my sausage fingers can't support my weight anymore. Lost my bottle for Moto Cross Old and knackered and smashed to bits I would advise people of my age to get a play station
'Extreme kayaking' is that the one you do without a boat? I tried body surfing once, in Surfers Paradise Queensland, where the sun never touches the beach because of the high rise flats and hotels. Nearly drowned, while my Aussie cousins laughed. I had to point out to them that they were all so enormous the waves got out of their way. I've barely been in the sea since.
Interesting - I got extreme sports, probably because of my competitive nature, although at 61, my mind makes appointments my body can't keep. When I was 18 I had a trial at Raleigh Speedway track, riding a 500cc motorbike with no brakes on a shale track with wooden boards as the boundary is about as extreme as it got in 1972. I was fine when I did the solo trials, you just learn to read the apexes and slide round the bends. It was a totally different ball game when there were four riders in a race, if you didn't make the first turn in front you were f*cked, you'd get the shale spat back at you from the bikes in front, it was called getting filled-in. Imagine being sand-blasted at 50 mph and you soon realise you have to be seriously mental to enjoy it. Sadly, in my third trial race I crashed breaking my right wrist after being thrown off when a rider fell in front of me on a bend and I was dispatched headlong into the boards. I still get gip from my wrist to this day. I can only admire in awe the top professionals in Speedway, they truly are a breed apart. If I had the chance I would be a motor cycle racer all day long, nothing matches the edginess of riding on your limit. The Manx TTs are the ultimate thrill, there's simply nothing to match it. For now, my extreme sport is gardening, time soon catches up with you...
Extreme sports for me too Though strangely I've no real desire to do any - I will stick to my road / mountain biking Maybe being brave enough to question my other half's driving ability when she's at the wheel counts as an extreme sport though
It's ok, mate .......... I live here and its easy to lose your breath after getting smashed by a wave. In relation to the 'sun & the highrise' .................. morning surfs are best, the water is normally crisp, smoother & nicer. The sun is all over you like a rash, till it hits mid afternoon and descends to the west ( over the highrise buildings ) Myself, I like indoor sports .......like social partaking of beverages whilst defining the qualities of music from ones CD / record collection. please log in to view this image
999, Surfers Paradise, right here on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. If you go to google IMAGES ................... should show some decent photos. link ........ https://www.google.com.au/search?q=...X&ved=0ahUKEwjZsY_O_unJAhWKph4KHZojDoUQsAQIGg
Sorry, not trying to high-jack the thread but just a couple more nice images, all from Gold Coast except the Whitsundays image. I was, for many a year, a keen surfer / board rider. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
As you have just demonstrated Aussie, there are many much more beautiful places than Surfers in Queensland, especially when you get up north.
