Did you get the gist of what I was implying, yes, then walk away in short jerky movements.

It should be: I love my parents, Michael Jackson, and Maggie Thatcher.

If you believe a sentence is open to momentary ambiguity, change it to avoid any doubt: I love Michael Jackson and Maggie Thatcher, but I especially love my parents.

The Oxford Comma is rarely needed. The Yanks practise terrible grammar, so please avoid their manuals at all costs.

How about this one: I didn't go out because it was raining. You are technically saying that the rain was not the cause for staying indoors. If the rain was in fact the reason you stayed indoors, it should read: I didn't go out, because it was raining or Because it was raining, I didn't go out. But that rule should only be utilised when a negative action precedes the 'because' clause.

Anyway, I'm going back to bed because I'm a lazy git.

P.S) Commas do not indicate pauses. This is a rule made up by those who do not truly understand the comma.

I didn't go out because it was raining, I went out because I had ran out of milk.

The alarm bells are ringing, stopme.

What you are saying is contradictory. You didn't go out, but you did go out...?
The two clauses should be separated by either a semi colon, colon or one of the FANBOYS conjunctions, otherwise you have committed the cardinal sin of the comma splice. And it is 'run' not 'ran' because you preceded the verb with an auxiliary verb.

So, you could have written: My love for jumping in puddles was not the reason for going out: I simply needed some milk.

Commas are overated in my opinion. I rarely have use for the squiggly little ****s. If it can't be said succinctly it don't need saying.
