Very few and it's a nice stat to hide behind. Jose's great success was beating United as manager of Porto. Apart from that in England he always played Sir Alex at a time when Chelsea were much stronger financially than United. The way Sir Alex dragged United back to dominance under the budgetless Glazers and chased the open cheque book Jose out of English football was phenomenal. I believe when there was a more level playing field of United v Inter that Sir Alex saw his understudy off.

Jose's spectacular failure and implosion this season, resulting in a second humiliating sacking by the same club, simply reaffirms what an extraordinary manager Sir Alex was. Could you ever imagine him taking the champions to a point above the relegation zone halfway through the season and being hounded out by his own players?

Jose's reputation has taken a potentially terminal battering this season. He'll never be able to dominate a dressing room again and clubs are now fully aware that without a massive budget to spend every season he is potentially a disaster waiting to happen.

In a nutshell, he's made Moyes look good.

Made Moyes look good? Absolute bollocks Stan. How can you possibly compare Jose with Moyes? Fergie? yeah I'll give you that, but Moyes? no chance.

  7. That is where he will end up.

He's clearly burned his bridge with The Bridge (again).

Sir Bobby Charlton's already said that won't happen. Look at the chaos he causes. Chelsea are now in for another period of rebuilding from top to bottom. Reports today that everyone outside of the first team and all of the support staff grew sick of Mourinho a long time ago. He supposedly asked Roman to pay him off after yet another defeat to West Ham. He's not worth the aggravation.

Alex can do wrong and I don't think the next manager will be exclusively his own decision. I recognise that which is why I don't take everything he says as gospel. Perhaps if you'd taken the same approach with Jose you wouldn't be crying into your cornflakes this morning while the football world continues to point at Chelsea and laugh.

Chelsea, the only club that has a permanent office with "Interim Manager" etched on the door.

Are United doing much better post Fergie? 3 managers since and most want the one you have sacked as well. Least we pick up some trophies whilst doing the manager merry go around.

It's customary to name your children.

SAF did choose Moyes so I doubt he'll be given carte blanche to choose another manager!

A key reason why Mourinho will never be United manager is the bad publicity he brings to every club. Gouging opposition coaches eyes out, obsessing about other managers, publicly humiliating the medical staff...all stuff that goes beyond playing **** football and losing games. Not good for the brand and if there's one thing the Glazers are obsessed about it's brand.

I don't think we're in the chaotic state you're in. Chelsea would achieve so much more if the club was run professionally. Laughably one idiot was strutting about last season claiming it was the best run club in English football. The fact is it's an incredibly unstable club and the combination of Roman and Jose was always going to end in tears and further chaos.

I'm not so sure. Yes you're higher up the league but there has been a hell of a lot of chaos since fergie left as well. The football has been awful, you've wasted a hell of a lot of money and you still look bang average. I'd be equally worried if I was a United fan, especially as you're seen as the biggest club in England. Looks like possibly another manager in the next 6 months and probably another 100-200 million being spent in the next 2 windows.

Jose has had a very bad few months and probably had to go. Not really sure any of the results, or bad media attention can be levelled at Roman or how the club has been run. Jose has been on self destruct but that's not the club's fault as such.

What has also come out of this is how well the fans have dealt with what has been an awful season. Would United fans still be cheering their manager if down in 16th? You've booed your team off more than we have this year!!

a lot higher and crucially still in with a chance of top 4.

    agreed

fortunately that doesn't seem to matter

given our relative league positions I don't see how we should be as equally worried as Chelsea fans! I don't worry about the money being spent. I only have to fund a minute portion of it and the club seems to generate enormous revenues. I believe United had a better year out of the CL than Chelsea had by getting to the last 16. Sadly I don't think we will have a new manager in 6 months.

Jose coming back was almost certain to lead to two things. 1. a title and 2. chaos. Roman takes a very short term view with his managers hence the merry go round and under achieving.

Jose has credit in the bank with Chelsea fans. LVG has none. Would we have booed SAF under similar circumstances? Unlikely. That said, there have been boos at SB this season.
