He actually does. Look at the majority of his goals this season and his career and you will see that a large majority come from crosses.
I mentioned this ages ago. That Benteke had something like 60% of his goals had come from crosses last season & we were the bottom or 2nd bottom crossing team in the league (can't remember if it was lowest crosses attempted or lowest cross success). It was an obvious problem from the outset and signing players like Firmino didn't help the fact and only having 1 winger in the whole squad (20 yr old who isn't even a good crosser) helps even less.
Of course it doesn't, he wants crosses to be played with precision not aimless. Lewandowski did quite well off crosses/early balls into the box.

I'm glad Klopp will put his arm round benteke and develop the relationship and improve what needs to improve not just dump everyone like you want. Klopp likes benteke and Origi.

Someone with an actual intelligent comment on this board It's utterly amazing to me that every forward be it Suarez, sturridge, Ronaldo, lewandowski or even poor old benteke thrive off earlier delivery. Whatever the belief is about Benteke from anyone the fact remains he's got a great strike on him from both head and feet, he's an honest player and one who will work on what he is told by Klopp. And the final point which as got to be made is this...... fee bashing is just plain silly. Particularly as 32 million is par for the course these days and can't be compared to 10mil bargains like can and Origi. If lfc wanted lewandowski which some hacks dared write the week herr klopp was signed the fee would start north of 70 Mil and keep going. The thought that vardy will be only 15mil according to some is all funny. Have some "patience" is my message. Good article on it by Adam bates on sky sports today. Have patience with both origi and benteke.. same for Firmino. .. give them all a chance to really work with the manager and see where it goes.

Look at the players qualities just for a moment. Also surely to God you are saying Rodgers and whomever created an unbalanced squad from which benteke origi et Al are suffering from and why Rodgers got the sack... Not benteke fault.... Think back to 2009...2010.... if we are struggling now what about when torres was injured. Babel and n'gog thrown in. We should be bloody grateful we've a proper couple of options here and get behind them and stop the excuses about what lfc doesn't do so benteke can't work.
I've said numerous times we need to cross the ball early. It doesn't matter who is playing up top. I've not criticised Benteke either. What I actually said is, if we're not going to put appropriate crosses in (which looks very unlikely atm) then why play Benteke? I'd prefer to play Benteke and stop pissing about (taking too long and trying to beat the opponent every time) with crosses. We don't even need the world's best crosser if we do this. Crossing early provides a much bigger target. I also think you would see more enthusiasm from Benteke if we did this too. Atm I think he's getting a "What's the point" attitude during games because the ball takes too long to arrive.
The majority of the other 40% are from set pieces and penalties. His avenue of goals is very one dimensional. And you're saying its Villa's fault for playing a certain way to Benteke which is why he is now pigeon holed as just a target man? they had to play like that! Look at when Lambert tried to play footy and Benteke struggled. Then Tactical Timmy came in and started launching balls into Benteke who then picked up form. Belgium NT play football with the likes of Hazard and De Bruyne buy Benteke struggles there as well.
His attitude is really poor. He gets angry when players don't pass to him but there are occasions when he gets annoyed despite being marked and not being in a good position!! Watch the WBA game and there are a few examples. Agree about the early balls but we need players to stretch the play. Benteke is too static to drag defenders out wide. Look st the Sturridge goal against Soton - early ball by Allen because we had a striker who got into a great position. But we just need to play quicker in general. The play in the final third slows down. Lallana and Ibe spend too long the ball and Firmino plays on instinct but it's not coming off atm.
Even Alan Shearer got pissed off when the ball wasn't delivered. Start whipping the ball in early and we'll see a different Benteke. If we're not going to do that then don't play Benteke.
It's not that he got annoyed that is the problem. It's him having the audacity to complain that he doesn't receive the ball after he refuses to get away from defenders and get into a good position.
I think you need to re-watch the games Jimmy. Benteke often starts off with good intentions but slowly deteriorates throughout the game.
Anyways, enough of the Benteke bashing! We finally have a week to prepare for the game so I'm expect nothing less than a win.
Quality post that. irrespective of who is up there they needs better. moreno has improved most under klopp as he loves the freedom and style give so on the left he's tossing it in.. very missed i find but he is trying. the right side n the other hand seems to need to walk it to the byline or up to a defenders before trying. clyne, ibe, milner, lallana.. all the same. I'll tell you why play benteke: 1. he's a good player 2. he's a snerior experienced striker 3. he's fit 4. he does actually work despite the critics. he is trying. 5. he's got a finish on him 6. he can hold it up and win the ball in the air so irrespective of the absue when we'd sterling up there were were getting destroyed last year cos the ball came straight back at us. 7. yes if you have BOTH parties in the pass confident in the other then both benteke and coutinho/lallana/whomever would make the right moves and play the right ball 8. finally who on earth do you expect ANYONE to get better if you park them on the bench ever 5 mins. this goes for origi too. you've gotta back benteke and get everyone wokring together. I'd say at least give him a chance after a good weeks training here. Does Origi then deserve a shot too.. well ge gave one good 90 so jump the queue a bit but right now you have to say lets bring him on gradually and not lump al lthe expectation on his shoulders at 20. give him time and minutes gradually i say.
