We made a bid for Kalou a couple of seasons ago. Personally I think he'd fit right in at Spurs - a good version of Defoe.
Hi Cardiff fan, Can we have bale on a season long loan if we pay £20,000 towards his wage. I know Modric is irreplaceable but if he goes you can`t replace him and playing with 10 men is what is known in the trade as a handicap. Strangely Spurs have been odds on to get Drogba for ages... The idea with deals that the fans will not like is to drag it on and on so they get fed up and think thank god when the player goes. 1/5 is the odds on him going.
As I said months ago, when it comes to MUPLC and Chelsea, they aren't aware that no means no - making tabloid hacks relentlessly publishing stories about other clubs' players for months on end their version of rohypnol...
Plan B - find something else for Abramovich to chuck vast sums of cash at. I start the bidding with this - hopefully he'll be locked in a long battle with Damien Comolli as they each try to spunk more money up the wall than each other...
Perhaps but at least it's giving the public a figure. At the moment just saying no lets him come back with small increases and each offer is another round of bollocks as it needs to be rejected. Name your price (£50m is exorbitant IMO) and if he offers less ignore it.
Why would Levy name a figure after repeatedly saying he is not going to sell no matter what sum of money is offered because he wants to bring in more top players to win things instead of selling the current ones to the Chelseas and Man Utds to guarantee a profit for ENIC
Your points are taken earlier lads but why have Chelsea come back again and again? It seems to me that DL is just waiting for the right price and Chelsea have been told that. They have not definitely been told to f*** off.
NOTHING TO DO WITH ME BUT If I was a Spurs fan I would be very proud of Harry and Dan the Man right now over the Modric saga. Turning down 35 mil is one hell of a statement IMO. If they do intend to sell in the end they are playing a blinder. If they have no intention of selling they are playing a blinder.
I can't really see what's to be so offended about. No one makes their best bid straight away, that's basic negotiation. Likewise saying he is not for sale isn't the same as actually meaning it. Again, could be just a negotiation tool. How many times have players 'not for sale' eventually been sold?? Levy is the only one who knows whether he will sell or not. I suspect not. He seems prepared to keep a potentially unhappy player rather than sell to a rival. Fair play to him if he sticks to his guns but only Modric's performances for you next season will prove whether this was a good decision or not.
"but why have Chelsea come back again and again?" Because Abramovich is a spoilt brat who won't stop until he gets his new toy
A good clout around the lug 'ole normally stops a spoilt brat in his tracks. I wish somebody would do that.
What a brilliant response to help fuel the debate. About a week ago Aston Villia said Downing wasn't for sale, he is now a Liverpool player. I don't think that will happen with Modric but my point is valid.
