Agreed. Livermore was worse than Meyler, he has got progressively worse with each game, every one has been worse than the last. He needs some bench time I think. Last night was crying out for changes in Central midfield. Huddlestone in particular. We needed someone who could keep calm under pressure and actually pass to one of ours. Waiting until around 78 minutes to make a change to a failing side was stupid, and then 2 of the 3 players who came off were 2 of the only ones actually making a positive impact on the game.
Our midfield trying to get back and forward for that matter resembles a fat woman running for a bus with shopping bags in each hand. Chugga Chugga Chugga Chugga...
If ever the term 'its about the result not the performance' is warranted, last night was a prime example! First half apart from Greegsy absolutely crap! I don't agree we played well in the second half, only the last 30 minutes. Goals change games, and Hernandez's certainly did that last night. Agree with some on here, Maloney to start at Rotherham for me
Think some are missing the point. Meyler has just come from a month lay off, when he tires he gives the ball away and makes needless fouls. But our record with him and Livermore is exceptional. Clucas shouldn't of started last night him and Robertson passing to each other is like the chuckle brothers at times, although Robertson played very well. If we have a solid middle pairing we need a Snoddy on either wing. Elmo can get lost for me now too. He's been consistently our best player for 3-4 years. Now he doesn't care and won't run with the ball at all. Don't even get me started on Akpom. Our strikers stank the place out first half. Movement was non existent and chasing and harrying the ball never happened.
To be fair to him, he's probably fooked. Every other player gets a rest at some point, but not him. If Snoddy keeps improving and I was manager (I'm not, in case you wondered) then on Sunday I'd tell Elmo to bugger off for Christmas, dont do any work at all, come back in for training on 28th and not pick him again till Cardiff. He desperately, desperately needs a rest.
Nice to see Rambo Billy shared our opinion on the Match Thread about the first half, it was diabolical. It's as if the team just turned up on the bus and ran out to play with no preparation. We are lucky there are so many **** teams in this league so we can maintain momentum despite everything, and if Reading hadn't completely fallen to bits with injuries and had a non-entity for manager we would have lost last night
It was very poor first half and very average 2nd We only got the result due to Reading having to reshuffle and anyone thinking otherwise cant have been watching the same game

I agree with him, Maguire did alright, but he certainly looked uncomfortable on several occasions and was lucky to not get penalised more often for holding.
Fair enough. I haven't seen a replay but at the time I was pretty sure he was just doing his usual cheating Uruguayan thing. As it seems I was wrong I take that back.
Maguire won't meet such a clever player every week - Vydra has been turning centre-halves, especially Championship ones, inside out for years.
Santa Jake delivers early xmas present On an unseasonably mild evening, the Tigers were indebted to Jake Livermore for an 89th minute winner against a well drilled Reading side. Only 15,000 fans came to watch the Tigers give another less than impressive performance against troubled Reading. The biggest cheer of the first half greeted the return to Hull of the great Paul McShane. If only we still had him here! Reading had two good chances within the first five minutes. The warning signs were there for all to see. City had their chances, with man of the match Robertson always threatening on the left, but after 29 minutes, and against the run of play, Reading took the lead. The Royals simply carved through City like a carving knife through turkey, Blackman finishing off a fine move. Just before half time, Reading scraped the top of the bar, and City were lucky to go in only one down. A chorus of boos accompanied the teams off the pitch. Not a good sign. But, as they say, it’s a game of two halves, and this certainly was. Whatever Steve Bruce said at half time clearly worked, as City were immeasurably better. Chances came and went for Livermore, Odubajo and Hernandez, and it began to look as if it was going to be one of those nights. Akpom squandered a golden opportunity, and then along came Hernandez, and finally City were level. A scrappy goal, perhaps, but very welcome all the same. The game was transformed(again, Stevie Bruce!) by the introduction of Snodgrass and Maloney, and for the last fifteen minutes City threw everything at Reading (Not, however, Akpom’s gloves, as he petulantly threw them to the ground when substituted. A word, Steve.) Then, just when you stopped believing in Father Christmas, he delivered. A goalmouth melee, and Jake Livermore gleefully smashed home the winner. A just reward for his persistence. Seven minutes of added time seemed to last an eternity, but finally, the final whistle blew, and City had secured back to back wins. It’s going to be a struggle, and this game showed who was up for the battle. Time to ditch the glove wearers, if you ask me. The sooner we start games with Snodgrass and Maloney, instead of expecting them to rescue us, the better.
