SoD was terrible and that's a fact regardless of the funds he had over Cotts. If we would of stayed with the miserable twat we could of been plying our trade in division 4. Sod bought us Fielding, Pack, Williams, JeT and one or two others. He also got us Brendon Maloney what ever his name was. He took us down out of Championship without a fight and we looked like taking that form down to the division below that. Cotts made a tidy sum on Baldock who I might add scored a big majority of his goals post O'Dysmal (Banksy named a theme park after him!) and got the players last season banking on that sale. I love the fact that some fans think they are in the know so much that the Lansdown's share their budget plans personally with them. He might of been successful in Bournemouth, don't know what they done with him there but they seem happier with Eddie Howe on both terms he's been there. Doncaster was nothing but a yo yo club which most on here are complaining that we might be the same now! I personally know and work with Notts Forest fans who have said he was crap with them as well. And yes I've been around football enough to make my own judgement!! he was ****ing awful and if someone says you should of seen us at Carlisle or something silly like then you should of watched the other ****ing 40 odd games he had with us.
SOD's last five games produced two wins two draws and a defeat hardly relegation stuff. People should be moving on and supporting the Manager and team we have now. I love the fact that some fans think they are in the know so much that the Lansdown's share their budget plans personally with them ... City c lost nine million and they can only go a few million past that this season under ffp = City wont and cant be paying that much
SOD is a miserable, ignorant git and thank god he has long gone but simply put I have learnt something tonight, I never fully understood the ffp rules, if it is as you say then we can't spend much to invest any way, so we are truly up the creek without a paddle, I'm really in the mire now, we are stuffed.
I thought FFP was only on wages? Transfers are not part of it. Could be wrong never really looked into it
The Red Robin is a vibrant, strong, and very territorial bird. How dare you compare it to a blow up ugly frog
Got to say that I was quite enthused when SOD came here. Finally I thought we had a smart coach capable of getting the team to play the kind of football we had been starved of for seasons. No one who was there will ever forget the day that Doncaster and JET in particular took us apart. Whatever your opinion of him (and I am not as harsh as some), sadly the bloke did himself no favours with his quite obvious distain for the press and perceived lack of a sense of humour. I was in the pits when the final whistle went relegating us but the ironic tune that boomed out of the tannoy did actually make me laugh despite the misery... I do however think that he was on a massive hiding to nothing because I think that the club had pretty much fallen apart by then with a lot of players knowing that they were out the door at the end of the season whatever happened and had pretty much lost interest and, it showed. He failed to connect with the supporters which was a fatal error however the one thing that I did agree with him was over "stupid question gate" as, having listened to him make the rare effort to give a lengthy, reasoned and intelligent response to the reporters question about what he planned to do, he was then posed the "stupid question". Frankly, in his position, I would have rammed the microphone where the sun doesn't shine so I think he was quite restrained but that was pretty the beginning of the end...
The trouble was he knew what a mistake it was coming here,Once on board he could see a sinking ship. The one manager that i would have put close to his talent Steve Coppell ran before his credentials were flushed down the drain. I would love for our fans to sit down with SOD and listen to what he had to put up with. I think lots would change their minds.
Interesting bit of info Same here Major, but I think time is running out for SC, very rarely post items on here about 'insider' knowledge but as an old supporter who once sponsored the club with my business, I have a few ex business friends who 'are very closely associated with the club' and I keep hearing that SC and SL are not best of buddies since the summer, time will tell but our League Position sums up a lot of things.
RR, you liked this quote but you're the one who hasn't moved on, harking in about him all the time.. he's gone, for ****s sake get over it! its history now.. I personally think he's a ****, you love him! its irrelevant, he's not here anymore!
For what it's worth, I don't like SoD. He was a miserable bastard here and his results were terrible. I'm simply defending it when people say he's **** when he's clearly not. If you are genuinely incapable of seeing past his record here (and seeing the restrictions he had put on him) then that says more about you and your intelligence than me I'm afraid. You can make digs as much as you like as if I'm claiming to know SL's budget plans but it's absolute common knowledge that SoD had heavy restrictions imposed on him.
It didn't work out with SOD for whatever reason but the chap didn't do himself any favours with us fans. I could say exactly the same about Pulis - clearly a good manager as his record at Stoke shows, but never liked by us City fans. On whether to stick or twist; I can't see that changing the manager now would miraculously turn our fortune around for the better. Its the same bunch of players and to be frank I think most of them are simply not good enough at this level. Whether they will grow into their role remains to be seen - but the season moves on without waiting for them to catch up. We got a dicking at Derby which was sad, but not many teams will go there and beat them this season and I personally felt FAR more disappointed with our defeat at Rotherham - THAT was a 6-pointer and we must NOT be losing to teams around us, or we WILL go down - and deservedly so.
Clearly only korey smith and Kojak are any where near championship standard. The remaining players are top end league 1 at best, however what concerns me is Preston and MK are doing okay with squads from last season. I don't see how a double winning side can finish top last season and then crash like sinking ducks this season. I really felt with three or four quality signings we would have been fine. However someone has to take responsibility for that mistake.
