First one you made it easy giving away the colours - Wolves, although I didn't realize they'd done it 4 seasons in a row. I would have gone for Arsenal ('30s edition) to answer your second question (consecutive seasons) but I'm not so sure if they did it in consecutive seasons - based on flipping through the picture gallery in this article : (of course, the article's basis is goals/game & only shows the top 10 - so it's likely to be consecutive given that powerful team). http://talksport.com/football/top-1...-history-see-where-liverpool-rank-14032484705 For your final question (2nd team to score 100 +) I'd have gone for Everton (Dixie Dean's record breaking year), but was amazed to find in the article that Villa, who ended up 2nd to Arsenal in '30/'31, actually scored 1 more goal than Arsenal that season. PS: Must have been exciting watching those games back in London way back then - amazing crowds. Bit of envy on my part Mr B_M_B
You are right. First cup final I watched was Villa v Man Utd in1957 so this team were a prominent one when I first got interested in football at the end of the 1950s. Have seen some of our fans refer to them as a little club not as deserving of a top flight spot as ourselves, which is laughable. They are also one of the only 13 clubs to have ever averaged 40,000 in a season.
No southern based club is among the other teams that have done 2 consecutive seasons of 100 goals. You are after 6 of them. You need to go back further in time to find the 2nd team to score 100 goals.
2nd team was Birmingham City (Div 2, 1893/1894). Interesting that they finished top of Div 2 the previous season whereas Sheffield Utd (2nd) and Darwen (3rd) did. Promotion/relegation was decided by test matches between the teams at the top/bottom in those days.
You were obviously not around to see Blackburn Rovers try and defend there PL title back in 1995/96 then ?
Blackburn finished 7th or 8th that season if memory serves me well. Chelsea are currently a point off the relegation zone.
Correct they did(7th) after an awful start. There form was Similar to Chelsea's at the moment. Chelsea have the talent they just need to get the desire back. The Chelsea players need to wake up and start to earn there wages for starters. Don't worry about them going down however it is fun atm. I expect the status quo to return at the top before the return of CL. twt as always mind. Leicester could well lose Vardy - Mahrez and scout Walsh to Arsenal in the summer. Walsh though will be the hardest to replace like.
Seeing as Manchester City were relegated the season after becoming Champions that statement is incorrect. The most they can do is become equal worst. Which, as much as I would like to see it, is not likely to happen.
The scout going to Arsenal isn't Walsh. It's one of Walsh's understudies and he's currently on gardening leave. Don't think Vardy will go, I don't think a club will stump up the money it'll cost. Mahrez will go in the summer, probably to one of the elite clubs of Europe.
Both players are just what Arsenal want and need. Fore sure the Gunners have the cash to pay whatever it would cost. Anything right about the rumours of Leicester offering Vardy £90k a week to stay ?
Maybe Lineker will offer to pay his wages out of his vast fortune, or perhaps Walkers Crisps can get a Vardy flavoured variety to raise the wages, the sort that you'd feed to your dog for a treat
Lol. Personally I think that the Foxes should cash in on both Vardy and Mahrez in the summer. There squad is just not deep enough in quality for a start. 3/4 injuries and they are screwed.
They will sell both, just common sense really, with that money they can build an established Premier team rather than relying on a few key players
