A new low for the club. As a lot of people predicted, this was the one where the majority voted with their feet and did'nt come. Neither did your boss.It could even be argued given the performance that some of the players failed to attend too. Never mind. Keep smiling as the fan base dwindles. Take a couple of photos with the mobile. The protests are disappearing so you may feel a corner has been turned. That's just because you are clueless. The protests are dying because there is no one left to protest, and because you and your boss are so useless it seems pointless to many. When you put your photos of the empty terraces on Facebook, and when you read the reports about last nights game which state we were second best to a potless bottom club, keep smiling, and think, 'I did that'.
You can just hear her phone call to the Douche.. Douche .... "and how many fans turned up for this game? The stadium looked quite empty on the TV..." Bubbles ... "no it was a good attendance ..... Chris tells me it was about 15,000 which is good for a mid-week game" Douche .... "Ah, that's good.... the fans obviously have taken Carol to their hearts" Bubbles .... "Yes they have .... well that's what Ricky tells me"
Well said Ken. Rich Cawley from the SLP filmed all 4 stands as the players walked out last night. He has posted the film on Twitter. It makes a sobering sight. 6,000 in the stadium, tops. I wonder what Meire must think when she plants her skinny arse on her comfy seat, and looks around the empty ground? Does she think she is doing a good job when she has lost over 50% of her loyal customer base in 2 years. Any other CEO in any other business would be forced to quit for managing such a record. Her answer to this is Target 20,000... A box ticking exercise of such deluded proportions that it is hard to believe any serious fan will participate. Duchatelet is a rich man with plenty of money, unlike our last two owners, this behaviour is both unnecessary and malignant. The response of all serious fans to the threat these people pose should be harsh and brutal, IMO. Just turning up every week and wishing everything better ain't working.
That's why more and more of the former loyal fans are just not bothering to go..... even season ticket holders!
Judging by yet another performance where we stated brightly then gradually disintegrated we won't even be in a relegation battle, we'll just go down with a whimper, like we did in Parky's season. So I expect attendances to keep declining. Project 20,000 is like an emblem of the CEO's ineptitude and Roland's madness. The team and the club are a rudderless ship. I listened with respect to an interview with Neil Lennon after the game, he obviously feels for the club and the fans, but we have no-one who can front up like that. The CEO giggles at the window and that's all, the interim head coach is waiting for the inevitable sack, as will the next Belgian and the owner sneaks in once a year and sneaks out again. At times last night I had the weird feeling of watching the game as a neutral, which was more stress-free than I've felt in my 40 years of supporting Charlton. The team are getting worse, collectively and individually. Good players like Cousins and JBG have become poor players. The crowd have resorted to jeering our own players, especially Big Mak, which only makes the atmosphere more toxic. Shockin, juss shockin.
Saddening indeed, even though i am way down here it gets me down Charlton is folding in like this. Well said Ken and Co.
Despite the spar situ of the crowd the north upper supported the team well unti maybe last 15 when the product on show became to pitiful ...chant of the night..da da da da f'king useless after yet another misplaced pass. Big Mac needs to kept out of the firing line his confidence is shot he's derided at every move just no point feel abit sorry for him tbh but he is woeful at present
It's sad watching it. It's even sadder when you fully understand people's decisions to stay away and contemplate the same future.
I stayed away last night despite having an ST. I used to be one of the many who busted their balls to get down to the Valley straight from work. Not any more.
I wasn't going to attend, but I knew I would be having a few drinks in and around London bridge from 5, so but the bullet. Not one to be melodramatic, but your heart does sink when you see the valley like that.
Why I go on so many holidays this season. Saved so much money by not support them away; I'm not travelling to places like Burnley, to watch us get mauled by conceding 5 or 6 goals. I'd rather be sitting cosy in a cinema, or watching a theatre production, or something like that. Even so, I'm not going to Brentford which is a 30 minute journey really by car. Come February, I like most people, will have a tough choice to make on our season ticket renewal. Also, I was talking to the people around me, the whole "get your half season ticket" advert that ran during half time was a bit redundant, given that 80%-90% of the fans in there were already season ticket holders. These lot have no idea on their customer base.
i think those adverts go up because they have no takers on the whole "advertise here" notices. who'd wanna sponsor us. got an absolutely mental CEO and owner with no clue on how to run a football club. no product wants to be associated with our impending failure.
I don't buy into this advertising, but I somehow have the need to drink some cheap knock off of red bull after visiting The Valley last night.
there's been a huge response to one of rich cawleys tweets today asking why people arent going anymore. all answers are mostly the same. i'm sure the club will have picked up on this, such is their basic market knowledge (one of the imps probably follows rich cawley). i'm now sat in anticipation waiting for a token gesture from the 'mare. it'll probably be something along the lines of "please come back, there's a pie in it for you" and it will involve JJ, lookman or another youth player. she'll go home rubbing her hands together thinking "job well done, those idiots will buy anything". dont renew next year. you're paying her wages.
The responses to that SLP tweet have been amazing fans of 40 plus years attending the valley selhurst West Ham valley again staying away this is really serious but I doubt those at the topwill address the issue
Yes I replied to @RichCawleySLP giving my reasons for boycotting - lost all confidence in the franchise model - disillusioned with constant influx of bad foreign managers and players
Our CEO told Ponders that he'd be back once The Plan kicked in. 'Mare has a cunning plan to get those supporters back, you see, but it's so cunning that us morons wouldn't understand it.
