I can't work out if he is the best in the world at that one trick though. I mean all he does every ****ing game is cut in onto his left and ping it into the crowd from 30 yards out 11 times a game. Surely any full back/defensive mid knows there is no point in defending him getting to the byline and using his right, so he must be amazing at beating players to get into position to unleash one of his rockets into some poor sods face in the crowd. Or alternatively the defending player knows there is about a one in a thousand chance that anything comes from Townsend so just let him do it

 

There's a part of me that would prefer Pete Townsend to be honest, but I guess it wouldn't be a disaster to test him out on loan. Not sure he'd solve any of our problems though, and would never start ahead of Mané etc. Plus he's not a striker.

So, on reflection, no.

 

Can't see us doing business with Spurs.

 

It will be rare that we sign a PL player. Unless they have an agenda (rebuilding a career for example like Bertrand) we aren't competitive enough in money terms to sign from another similar club.

 

Which Ronaldo did you have in mind? We might be able to afford the fat one from 15 years ago.

Maybe I have been wrong about Austin, but he has never struck me as a player that is a true center forward or target player like Pelle or Rickie. He drifts around a fair bit and is quite good with the assists but at QPR Zamora was normally the CF on Austin played off him, maybe they played a442 I'm not sure. but he certainly ticks all my boxes for being lethal in the area which we are sadly lacking

 

Not sure that a true center forward is what we need, actually. Our best stretches of play last year came with Pelle behaving less like a target man and more like, well, Charlie Austin.

Just doesn't seem to do a lot, would want decent wages as he's English and for the money he'll cost (again, English tax) he just isn't worth it.

Sounds to me like Koeman is saying to Austin that we want him but won't pay his extravagant wages in a hope that he'll take a cut to play at the top level

 

That's the key question, though whisper it quietly, Poch is usually pretty good at sniffing those out, and if he isn't getting a game at Spuds...well...

 

Yep he's also had attitude problems there which is why Spurs are keen to get rid, had a big falling out with one of the coaches I believe.

I think he will go elsewhere on more more money unfortunately
