Carson was 18 when he started against Scum. You don't play in those matches unless you're ready. I do concede that he wasn't a regular with us, but that doesn't mean he wasn't good enough. Not easy to dislodge an excellent keeper like Robinson. I do think his overall career is disappointing for one who had so much promise, but that's another story I guess. What's your beef with Robinson, btw?
Don't get me wrong I liked Robinson when he first started but he faded on me. I never thought he should have got first choice over Martyn but that's my opinion. I think that when he was 'big' we had a drought of decent keepers in the England ranks. He's failed to impress me in his career.
