Do you really care what rival fans think about it? Thanking the fans in Klopp style shows the enthusiasm he has for the game, the club, the team and the fans. I loved it <ok>

What happened at the end of the game was always going to give plenty of mileage to rival fans- I expected it and it doesn't bother me.
I didn't find it at all cringe-worthy, because it was quite obvious it was an attempt to bring the players and fans closer together and was not a celebration of rescuing a point in a game where we should have had all three.

I will say that there are also some cultural differences going on here, it's not a very "British" thing (though neither are most of the players) and looks a bit vain and empty to our eyes.
However, I applaud Klopp's efforts to bring back a time when players and fans felt inextricably part of the same thing. As someone old enough to have seen a continuous disassociation between the two over the years as players' wages and egos have ballooned I'm dismayed at the attitude shown by many (not all) players to the people that provide them with an undeservedly lavish lifestyle.

Klopp's actions on Sunday, and the continuously misinterpreted comments he made about the crowd a couple of weeks ago, should serve to remind the players that they have a responsibility to the people who follow them, and to whom the club belongs -more than any player or manager or owner.
I suspect Klopp has found his first few weeks in English football more difficult than he anticipated, but he's been a breath of fresh air in his attitude, so sod the brickbats, if it does the job then good on him.

I understand where you're coming from.

But Would a simple applause have the same impact? Definitely not.

Our manager did something to reconnect them with the fans.

You can call it cringe, but to us LFC fans, we loved it and we want more of it. Give me 'fringe' and atmosphere over the **** we've grown accustomed to.

    Well said Saint.

As I mentioned above, not only does he need to get the team playing well again, but he has the massive issue of fans and the poor atmosphere to contend with also.

He's practically raising the atmosphere single handedly.

I do feel that this reaction will improve things - we finally saw the fans react positively and feel it can growing. Hopefully it's the watershed moment we all hoped for.

3 months down the road if the results are still on the same level, there's no way you'd all still be 'loving it' if he repeated the same thing mate.

I love footballers and managers showing passion, it's why I go to the match and love football in general, but passion and celebration is spontaneous and generally follows success.

The reason this event has drawn so much comment, is due to the unusual circumstances and the fact that it appeared contrived and even the players themselves looked uncomfortable doing it. Much ado about nothing probably, but it didn't translate well to non-kopites hence the reaction.

I'd nail rogers to a cross on FAR less....

Frankly if klopp wanted to start that stuff he could have started it with a win or three. swansea for example or better yet first home game we played.

It looks very odd v west brom at 2-2

He didn't do it before because he didn't realise how bad the crowd are.

They finally responded, and he thanked them.

    Great post saint <applause>

You got it spot on. Is fan culture in this country such that rival fans feel the need to criticise a manager for thanking the fans for responding to his request and providing a superb atmosphere? He embodies the spirit of the game and if he can bring that back to Anfield I'm more than happy. He truly understands that it's the fans who are the most important part of a club.

Klopp is also right about teams who come to play like West Brom did, and like him, I'd have hated seeing them go away will all the points. Pulis turns every team he manages into a bunch of thugs, dirty tactics all over the place. We've got a long way to go but pulling a draw out of that was another small step in the right direction.

90% of fans time could be spent better

the reality is if he's embarrassed or lost a player as a result of this little stunt then that is an issue.

look at the picture. james milner is really embarrassed. ibe is like witf is going on.

YOu only need knock the bit of genius gloss off and then you end up back where we were. no confidence no nothing.

BTW... our results show clearly zero improvement since klopps took over except in cups.

we are going to be lucky to be in europe next year. i think we have to win a cup to get europa now.
