    They dont do things be halves though do they in America? Does seem a waste though, must take an age for the Tax payer to pay off the stadium!

    The stadiums in the States are not paid for by the tax payers. It's all down to corporations and franchises.

    Don't tell Seattle that, that's how the sneaky owner got to move the Super Sonics to Oklahoma, he tried to force the state government to fund a new arena, they refused (still paying off Qwest Field -- home of the Seahawks and Sounders), so he moved them to his hometown (as planned all along). Must be especially painful for the Seattle fans to see the Thunder doing so well ever since the move

    A lot of other North American cities own stadiums and lease them back to franchises too, e.g. Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona,
    Or fund them through tax payer subsidies, e.g. Yankee Stadium, price? 2.3 BILLION DOLLARS, 1.2 billion of which paid for by tax payers

    - Though you're right, they do get lucrative sponsorship deals...nothing like the crooked one Man City has orchestrated though
