Whilst perhaps not entirely a foregone conclusion, things are looking decidedly grim for Aston Villa's EPL relegation survival prospects ... Thought it might be interesting to capture people's views on: a) Can Villa possibly survive? b) Which 2 teams will go down with them if they don't? In terms of b) I'm keeping it to teams currently below the 20 point park for the purposes of the poll - will be interesting to return to this post-January transfer window to see if / how views have changed. Poll choice limitations have governed the number of choices / format
As much as I'd love to see WBA go down - they're the new Stoke. And I hate Pulis and his brand of 'football', I think it will be Sunderland and Bournemouth. With an each way on Norwich.
Norwich and Bournemouth would be my guess for the other two, I'm sure Samuel and Anthony will do just enough to keep Sunderland and West Brom safe. Swansea have plenty of reason to be worried though
... interesting choices - personally I can see the Swans surviving - they outplayed Man City for long periods at the weekend and lost to a flukey goal ... I think they have better quality players than many in the botton section e.g Williams, Montero, Ayew, Sigurdson, Routledge, Fernandez, Fabianski and Shelvey to see them move clear - partictularly at home where they have vociferous and passionate home support ... West Brom seem to be a typical Pulis set-up - didn't include them in the poll choices as they are already on 20 points ... if they were to go down, I don't think there would be many tears falling from the eyes of neutrals ... would also make for an intriguing Championship next season with the possibility of Villa, West Brom, Wolves, Birmingham, Coventry and Walsall all being in it
Villa look doomed. Sunderland and Bournemouth are my other teams who I think might go down with them.
Think Villas luck has finally run out, have been in a relegation battle in every year since we were promoted again, they won't be missed, add nothing to the league currently.
Sunderland look in deep trouble (and I can not stand fat sam) and I am hoping West Brom cos they are so dirty to play against
Would love Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford to stay up as I can not remember a year when all 3 promoted teams survived
Villa are already gone. Who joins them? Generally I look for the sides with the weakest firepower, as a side with a decent striker or 2, always have a chance to fight their way out of it. I look at Norwich and see a side who are going to struggle to score goals, and Swansea the same. I think Sunderland will just about have enough with Defoe and Fletcher.
I always look at goal difference. It's an indicator of problems at both ends. Also, it can be a decider in who goes down and who stays up, if points are equal. Currently, the teams with the worst GD are Villa, Sunderland, and Newcastle.
sunderland and Chelsea - i can see them going into free-fall after tonights "betrayed" comment and Jose getting sacked after 3 loses over xmas period
Swansea for me with either Bournemouth or Norwich. Swansea are on a horrible slide and Gary Monk was very popular within the club from what I can tell. They have some good players but they need to turn their fortunes around fast before the slide becomes terminal. Norwich don't look like they have the goals to survive. Bournemouth play good football and look good enough to stay up. I worry about fatigue kicking in though once all those injuries start to take a toll.
Nah, Villa are a given, but the other 2 will escape. Norwich and Swansea are my favourites, but there's still time for AN other to bomb and completely **** themselves
Everton once Lukaku gets sold in January & Delafaououo goes back to Barca to be sold onto someone else for twice as much?
You can go off people quickly!! (unless you were just quoting three teams you expect to beat you this season - not sure the other two will manage it tho. You're not that bad!! )
