    Exactly.

We're at the same level as a lot of teams.

This league is so damn unusual. It is like 8 teams are almost at the same (not very high) level.

I think it's the fact that the middle order have closed the gap on the top clubs in terms of quality of players. It's made the league more even as its removed the consistency of winning that breeds the level of uber confidence that usually sees a couple of sides pull away.

This has meant that the lower sides are facing sides at the top end who have been proven to be beatable and they therefore haven't had the same level of 'beaten before we start' mentality that has been so prevalent in previous seasons and have approached games in a much more gung ho manner as a direct result.

The defending in the league is poor, but that's as much down to the overall attacking intent than anything else.

    It's a very interesting season

Yeah for the first time since, well I've been watching football, that teams aren't pulling away and the big teams are getting beaten by anyone.

The quality is way down on what it was in 2006-2010 when it was very high - the result being its more entertaining and less predictable.

No mate. Klopp got laughed at for an overblown, hollow and contrived act, that deflected away from the lack lustre performance and fortuitous point gained at home to West Brom ffs.

    Even the players looked embarrassed.

Because they know they didn't deserve the applause they were getting... hopefully they realise that the fans actually give a **** and if it wasn't for them most of them would have a dead end job they hated so next game they put a bit of effort in <ok>

No, because they knew it was cringe worthy holding hands and celebrating like they'd achieved something.

If he'd have simply made them walk to the Kop and applaud the fans en masse then that would have done the job. The celebration element made it total cringe. The intent was right but the execution was OTT.

If Woy had done exactly the same during his tenure after a similar result, or even Sterident for that matter, you'd have ****ing slaughtered them. Klopp still holds the Messiah tag though, so he's got away with it amongst many kopites (but not all btw)

I like the fella and I think he's a good manager, but that was a crass error of judgement imo, as he was merely playing to the audience.

For what it's worth I think he'll do a good job at Anfield, but it's going to take some real time, and he'll have to adjust his own tactics to suit this league before he starts to gain some real traction.

No idea what relevance United have to that nonsense yesterday?

Would Paisley or Shanks have done that after a lucky draw at home to West Brom lad?

    Ermmmmm

He's made a couple of comments about fans now and he's obviously trying to get Anfield back as the 12th man. If the crowd are fully behind the team (I think back to the Rafa days 05-07) or the (13/14 towards the end of the season) where we were awesome at home and the fans were incredible and no doubt helped us to a a few wins.

Problem is, he's used to German fans and especially Dortmund who pay £10 a ticket, have a few beers and sing non stop because they are proper fans... over here 50% of the fans are day trippers paying £50 and want to sit in silence and watch the game rather than realise that they can actually have an influence.

It's a shame he didn't have pre-season and a transfer window as I think we'd be closer to top 4 and a real challenge this year given how bad everyone has been and how open it is... but he's going to need a transfer window or 2 to see real improvements. He's having to work with players who clearly aren't good enough and haven't been for a while now and he actually has the presence to be able to stand up to them unlike Rodgers & Hodgson who didn't.

Famous words... but next year I can see us being a proper challenger for top 4.

Still, if he wins the LC (beating you in the final ;) ) and get's us playing some better football in 2nd half of the season then I'd say that's successful

I think you're bang right about the atmosphere, he hasn't quite got that yet. He's gone from the noisiest stadium in Europe to exactly what you describe there. Only winning and playing well will create the atmosphere he's craving. Trite acts like yesterday won't bring about the change he wants.

He'll need 2 or 3 windows to create the side he wants. He'll also need about the same amount of time to learn exactly what it needs to succeed in this division.

It's not the significance of the club but the man that managed them and the "embarrassment" he brought on himself that's been airbrushed out of existence, he's not the only one but your description (overblown, hollow and contrived)of Sunday's Anfield panto is say OTT considering the snide things I mentioned.

And nope Shanks and Paisley would never have done anything similar.
