But that isn't the sole use of the venue, and both of those have their limitations as they currently are.
Technically, so is the KC. It doesn't alter the discussion much though. It's academic, as it's being built as designed now.
Yes i agree , 5.'000 max It does seem a lot of cash for only 2,000 permanent seats Is there more stuff that comes with it than we think ??
I think the reason the venue seems so expensive at £36m, is because that's probably not just the cost of the venue. I suspect that headline figure includes demolishing all the buildings on Roper Street/Waterhouse Lane, refurbishing the multi-story car park, building a big open square outside the venue etc.
The problem is we could not fill an arena with 10000. You only have to look at the failures at the KC to realise that. If the transport infrastructure was better ie electrification of Hull to Selby, more frequent and later trains and better connections from the North we might stand a chance but as it is 3500 is about right
Not enough interest in the Who. What planet do you live on. After the Beatles and the Stones the Who where the greatest rock band of the 60s and 70s and still have thousands of followers.
You can't compare Hull with Plymouth. First of all it is on the main London SW railway line and secondly it is only large city in an hours radius whereas we have Sheffield and Leeds and we are at the end of the line. As I stated in an earlier post improve our railway links we might stand a chance.
I agree and until the transport infrastructure is improved they wont. People are not going to come to a gig that finishes at 11 or 12 when they can't get transport home. I think the last train out of Paragon is about 9:30.Ridiculous time for a City our size.
According to Look North, planning permission was refused for this today. Anyone got any more details?
You're not the Daniel Dennett who changed the landscape of the philosophy of mind in the 1980s are you? 'Cos if you are my mate wrote his degree thesis on you. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Dennett
Confirmed... Plans for a £36m music and exhibition centre in Hull have been rejected. Hull City Council's planning committee rejected the proposal. The Labour leader of the authority, Councillor Stephen Brady said he was "incredibly disappointed" at the decision.
I still take the piss out of my mate who bought a **** load of who tickets! Thinking he'd make a good profit on reselling them! Literally couldn't give them away on the night
"The council has not yet given a reason for rejecting the application" Having worked in Development Control, where a decision was made by the Committee contrary to officers' recommendation the Committee had to provide the basis for the reason(s) for refusal and the precise wording subsequently to be agreed by the Chairman or referred back to the Committee.Unless things have changed there must have been clear reasons to reject the proposal.
Probably rejected because the council haven't got a pot to piss in. Also the Hull @ East Riding Community Trust going belly up and taking HCC for £320k may have had a bearing. Quite a few gravy trains brought to a sudden halt with that news.
Pete Townsend should just go away and hide, thankful that he got away with it. Im glad the people of Hull turned away from the nonce. Research my arse.
