It's not arrogance, it's a fact that a squad that has been assembled at a cost of £300million+ should have a reserve side that's good enough not to get beaten 3-0 by a team that's been assembled from a squad that cost less than £30million and is missing 4 key players. Otherwise the squad recruitment has to be considered shambolic.
Thats not what I am saying at all mate. Its just common sense. You would not expect any variation of a squad that cost £300m to be played off the field by a squad that cost £5m. Again, I am not talking about losing, we know football throws these results at us sometimes, its why we love it, but I am talking about taking a 4-0 beating.
exactly. its just common sense. You spent £300m assembling the squad so you expect a better return on that investment, and if you dont get one...as Stan points out, then you need to look at the recruitment and find out whats going wrong.
Bournemouth play great football. I have been one of their fans for the last year. PS: United paying £300m for players worth £100m or less. United have always overpaid. Cost is NOT equivalent to quality when United are concerned. Nothing new from me as I've said this since Fergie retired. !
That may be the case, but I still find it shocking that you went into the game expecting to lose 4-0!! That should be unthinkable, no matter what XI LvG puts on the field !!
Unthinkable? you obviously have more confidence than I do. MK beat us 4-0 and yet our side then was less of a reserve side. Bournemouth is a million miles from MK Dons.
Regardless of whether we got value, that money still bought players. Those players strengthened the squad. That squad, duly strengthened, should be more then capable of beating Bournemouth, whatever the circumstances, every single time.
That's simply not true de Gea Vermijl James Anderson Evans Keane (not Roy) Janko Kagawa Hernández Welbeck Powell
Again I ask why? because our reserves cost more? our reserves should play better than their regulars? United are richer than little Bournemouth?
Well in theory yes, but we all know that in football these sorts of result pop up from time to time. a 2-1 or 1-0 loss to a smaller side, it happens. However, expecting a 4-0 pasting?!?! Thats just ludicrous
No, because we're better than them. Or should be. **** me your standards have slipped, truly shocking.
Or my expectations are not as high as some of you at this point in time. I've lived through the post Busby years and I know the depths that a club can sink to when a great era ends. Of course we should be doing better but I was and am not expecting Fergie's United within 3 years of him leaving. As I said I am happy to go though the various stages of recovery and it won't be painless. AND: the current stage was getting into the CL and arrest the slide from Moyes time with us. Winning the title would be the next. Challenge the CL would be the next after that.
wow, I just saw that Man Utd have played less passes forward than any team in the league all season, and more backward passes than any other team! 19th in passes into the final third!!!!!
Aye, its just not the Man Utd I have known all my life. Only ever known Big Ron and Fergie, and there is no way either of those would have put up with stats like that.
Even if you have overpaid for all your players, its still probably worth more than the entire squad of bournemouth. If you didn't think your expensively assemblied squad is not as good as Bournemouth, you might as well sack all your players off now and buy the Bournemouth team. Guess what, no one is going to do that cause lets face it, the Bournemouth players are turd relative to yours.
