I agree. he's not gt the pace nor the physicality to play in a game where he needs to do something special. He's played best when playing against teams like city who actually attack not look for set pieces and don't defend en masse and actually give him loads of space.

Give any player the space and he will do something.

Benteke is still a very good striker though.

If we had lukaku playing for us right now he's look like a turd.

If we'd costa he'd look even worse than he does at cheslea if thats humanly possible.

 

Nope - they're not the ideal fit for our team but Lukaku and Costa would look better because they're better players.

costa has hazard oscar, willian, fabregas and matic behind him playing ****e. we have coutinho (half fit) lallana, henderosn, milner and can behind poor christian.

Costa is too slow to be able to get on the end of anything our lot can serve up.

Lukaku missed about 10 but everton keep delivering the ball in. If lfc sped up the delivery benteke would have a field day.

I feel sorry for poor christian. all he needs is good delivery and he will score lots.

 

I agree they wouldn't get much joy here but they're still better footballers.

 

Youre making our our benteke is a Sunday league player that doesn't know his foot from his elbow.... As much as you dislike the guy he's already scored more goal in his career to date than Coutinho will in his whole career.

Coutinho does this, it's what seperate a him from silva. Silva knows when to pass and when to shoot, Coutinho needs to learn to make the right choice and using Benteke as the reason he's not passing is poor.

I don't believe that is the reason, I think he's trying too hard to be the main man after the pressure was put on him.

There isn't much difference.

 

During the Rodgers administration this was obvious. Until recently they had seemed to improve... Now defenders are getting worse again.

Migs had a very off game and can certainly take large % of blame for last goal.

 

For the record , I thought by and large we were the best team. Shame we couldn't convert that into 3 points.

 

Personally, I don't think they have improved individually.

I do think they are now less exposed thanks to the system in place but Skrtel continues to make mistakes and Lovren is a bag of nerves.

 

its should have ended 1-0. there is no excuse for flogging 2 bad goals to this lot having taken the lead.

the only thing they got was set piece. discipline was poor on our part and defending really poor.

The biggest defensive change at set play time made was a partial zonal system with 3 guys along the six yard box to cover most dangeour zones but the reality is nobody is covering the guy in on the keeper and honestly its not much better.

our set piece delivery is woeful. its so bad its untrue.

 

It's dire that we have no ****er who can take a shot at goal from free kick in a dangerous position as well. With Gerrard & Suarez it would be virtually 50/50 at times whether a 20-25 yarder would end up in the back of the net!

Now? I don't even get excited as know nothing will come of it.

 

yeah i dread corners as they are a chance for the opposition to break and score and our free kicks might as well be goal kicks for the opposition.

theres no talent in our squad to strike a ball as every ****er has had a go by now.

 

bentek is class and coutinho is 23 he'd better start showing some leadership sooon or his chance of a move to barca will be off.

 

Also why we can't defend them. Who takes them in training?
