It really has gone beyond a joke,we've got players we can't shift,a star player that won't sign and no defenders of worth that wish to join us..

Our pre-season campaign is lacklustre to say the least and is an echo of last year.

Now our manager and I'm only being factual, who should be our leader with regards to the playing staff on and off the pitch, has admitted publicly that, yes he has failed with defence signings, yes he has failed to shift players on and now he can't get Nicky M to sign a contract.

He states, "In my dreams, Nicky signs a new contract and gets the goals that win us promotion".

Then he says,"There is no reason why that cannot happen. That is my hope".

Continues with,""But I have done everything I can to persuade him and now it's down to the board of directors."

Finishes with," "As for the rest of it, I'm just taking it day by day and waiting to see what happens."

In four sentences Keef says it all,he is a dreamer,a hoper, has given up on NM and passed the buck and takes things day by day and is waiting to see what happens.

Can you imagine a Sam Aladcye or Neil Warnock delaying and giving up like this,I can't.

The majority of our fans for a year now has been very supportive of Millen because of what he took over.I admit I am not a fan of Millen but I have come around to the point of view of the continuity and give him a chance brigade.

Things appear to be not going right and when I hear and read comments like these from our manager, nice guy that he is,it makes me wonder if he is up for the job.

I am not calling for him to be sacked,I just want some guts, some leadership and somebody to get a grip on things.

I await all the happy clappys, the glory boys, the Keefers to start their stomping..

All of this is being caused by one man is it Maynard or Millen.....?

my theory is that maynard is waiting to see what 'stars' millen will bring in before he decides to commit to your club. lack of ambition will see him go, a few 'stars' then he may sign.

You said that Pitman and Stead are good enough so what would be best for you is if you sell Maynard and then invest the 5M on getting decent defenders.

Never knew you weren't a fan of Millen wiz <yikes>

No-one truly knows what's going on behind the scenes, that said, it is very frustrating that we've bought 2 midfielders, a striker and still no defenders.

As for Maynard, I think we should sell him now. If he hasn't got the decency to at least sign a one year extension to repay what we've done for him in terms of his career, then he can go and **** himself as far as I'm concerned.

But like I said, no-one truly knows what's going on behind the scenes...

Pitman can score enough goals that we can get promoted but even my head dropped every time Millen played him wide left. He is our best natural goal scorer. Maynard gets goals but not many come inside the box where Pitman scores with either feet or his head so playing him anywhere but in the middle is madness.

To me this is the season Keith gets judged on. Still think he made a mistake not appointing Alan Walsh as his assistant

They is talk this end that a bid is going in for Maynard today. There is 2 rumours is depends which one you want. One is 5.6M and another is 4.5M+Martyn Waghorn

Bearing in mind we paid 3M for Waghorn a year ago and he is a quality player as he proven when he was on loan to us but he struggled last season. The only really high he had was against you lot where he smacked in a last minute winner

To be fair to Millen he has tried to sign many top quality defenders and all have ended up going to the Prem. Is this a sign of initial ambition or is it poor management in the fact we aimed too high without having any proper back ups?

I think it's initial ambition. The fact he says he has loan enquiries for 3 or 4 players shows that he has not given up and now it is up to the clubs we have bids in with to get back to us. I would much prefer us to go for the best possible players and be patient than rush into signing another average defender for the sake of it.

I think the whole Maynard saga is dragging on a bit too much now. Surely we should sit him down and say look are you going to sign or do you want to move to Leicester as this is the only club that wants you. We are not going to sit around and let you run down your contract in the continued hope that a Premier League team comes in for you!

If he keeps on stalling on the contract it would be madness for us to turn down a £5 million bid in the hope that he scores enough goals for us this season to get us promoted.

But until another bid comes in for him there isn't much Millen can do apart from keep on pushing him for an answer. Until that bid comes in for him we may aswell keep Nicky sweet and let him score goals for us rather than risk giving him ultimatums and getting nothing from him.

Would you prefer 5.6M or 4.5M and Waghorn?

I'm as frustrated and annoyed as everyone else about the Maynard situation, but NM holds all the cards. He has a contract and presumably we can't sell him unless he wants to go. So depends on his decision? loyalty schmoyalty! just doesn't happen nowdays. Won't see another Tinman again as players will always chase the cash!
But I think the NM situation is just a side issue as already stated on thsi forum we have the attackers, it's defenders we need and have done since end of last season I don't know what the situation is behind the scenes but am now getting worried that it's not long before start of season and we still have the defensive frailties that gave us problems last season.
C'mon city get a move on!

This is no different to most pre-seasons at Ashton Gate.

The likes of little Oxford Utd are currently on tour in the USA whilst we play, (and lose to) the likes of Bath and Torquay in the miserable UK. Other clubs make the signings their managers believe will see them improve this coming season, whilst we struggle to attract anyone half decent, and move on the rubbish we don't need.

We're going nowhere under Millen but without the new stadium being in place we can't look at promotion.

I litterally know nothing about Waghorn except LCFC paid a fortune for him and now it looks like bad business. The question is does young Waghorn warrent a million pound price tag?

We would almost certainly buy another striker if Maynard left, Waghorn could be a quick fix, but if the lad is not worth £1.1m then the cash offer is surly better. Stead and Pitman are a great looking combo on paper, we have Clarkson and Taylor, the signing of another number 9 wouldnt be essential.

£5.6m would go a long way towards rebuilding the squad, 5 £1m players would change us in to promotion contenders.

I'd take the money as I have not seen much of Waghorn but looking at his stats, his goal scoring record is rubbish and with a lengthly lay off injured and has yet to play since that injury we don't want to do a Liverpool and buy a player who might not play.

Also even if we did buy him I don't think he is any better than what we have so wouldn't even make the first team.

Jack Hobbs is one I would have liked to have if you hadn't of sold him to Hull. Only player I'd take is Andy King (plus cash)

King isnt as good as he is made out to be. Yes he scores alot of goals from midfield but apart from that he doesnt do much else. Richie Wellens is the one that makes our midfield tick.

Waggy was great for us when we had him on loan but he didnt get a fair chance last season, he is still a decent player and given a chance and the right management he will do well again. He has potential no doubt but he sometimes he ends up running around like a headless chicken.

We have workhorse strikers if Maynard goes its the quality we will want. As everyone keeps saying we want centre backs and full backs.

Getting fed up with it all now most City fans I know are feeling the same.
Its becoming to big an issue and Nicky needs to man up and make a decision. Yes he is good enough for a Prem club, but if Leicester are the only ones and prepared to pay 5.6 mil then it maybe time to cut our losses and move on. I think Maynard is beginning to seriously annoy both sets of fans. If he stays wil he get a good reception?
I guess only if he scores a load. If not I fear the grief will be horrendous the same if he goes to Leicester with a bad start, questions will be asked of his commitment to both and is he only init for the money.
