He picks him (and Milner) first for most games. Does he see something you are all missing?

  5. I'd guess it's variation. If everyone on the team plays the same way then the team is predictable. Having Benteke there means we can go direct or wide as well as tgrough the middle with Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana, etc.

We'll see if he picks him next year and when he has Sturridge fully fit.

    Do I know you? <whistle>

I was being slightly tongue in cheek (of course) but Benteke's been so poor it did cross my mind that Klopp might be the only man capable of hugging some life into Mario <laugh> Obviously then I thought about the work rate Klopp wants...................

The only defence I have for Benteke is that he's new and we obviously don't know how to get the best out of him. He's shown he knows where the back of the net is at other clubs so maybe he'll recapture that one day.......but there's nothing I hate more mate, than a professional footballer who can't control a ruddy football. Seeing the ball ping ten yards away off his wonky toe every time he tries to control the ball will have Klopp balder than you by the end of the season. #billymeltdown <grr>

I've not really an issue with that. Sturridge's injury has kind of forced his hand, Origi hasn't yet earned a place ahead of a guy that, as **** as he's been still has a very good scoring record (elsewhere). However, I will have an issue if he's still starting him every week after the transfer window <ok>

I truly don't want to scapegoat the guy, but...

Like many on here, I questioned the buy in the first place. Seems like Lambert with go-faster stripes - but a £27m more expensive version, and another Plan B at that. I was hopeful, after the Bournemouth game, as he seemed to have a bit more movement than I thought. Since then he seems to have just stood on the penalty spot and hope the ball comes within a yard of him (as it did, tbf, against Soton, and he headed a fantastic goal). Unless he gets continuous crosses of that quality though, there's nothing else. Crouchie offered more link-up play, never mind Lambert.

I'm sorry, but that's the way I see it. I think I've been proved wrong over Origi - I called him a Championship player, at best - but Klopp has come in and the guy, in terms of movement if nothing else, is up there with Lukaku (or on his way), though nowhere near his finishing ability, of course (yet? we can dream). I'd have him starting over Benteke every time.

In summary, I think all we've done is spend an awful lot of money on a player to stop him bullying Skrtel every time we meet. An expensive policy, as there's at least five other powerful CF's out there like Giroud and Lukaku who trample all over Skrtel too.

  20. Least he gets into a position in which to miss control the ball.

Benteke's not been great (and i didn't want him) but he's still a massive improvement on the waste of space that is Mario!

Besides, neither of those players are of the required ability to be setting the standard of what we need.

I'm just going to give you the benefit of doubt and presume you're pissed <ok>
