Thing is, something needs doing. The generation we need to attract to games isn't the same as our generation. We pretty much had football and **** all else really, well music of course but not much else. This Console and Smartphone generation are not, and will never be satisfied by the same things we were. For us football was a Saturday ritual, usually with your dad or another male relative, society is not like that any more. Personally, I'm not keen on goal music, or cheerleaders or any of that other bollocks, but, the things that make me happy, generally, won't appeal to the youth of today or indeed the youth of tomorrow. I do like Fileys constant banging on about tickets for kids, but to keep them, and to keep them coming when they're teenagers is more than just getting them hooked the way we did. SImply giving away tickets to under 10s won't work in the long term, someone needs to be there with them, not everyone can afford it, not everyone even wants to go. Shocking as it may seem, not just in Hull, but not everyone, even blokes, like football at all. Neither I, nor a lot of you, like the fat **** with the drum at Leicester. They like it though. Palace like their Cheerleaders. Arsenal like their stupid ****ing flags. If I worked at the club, rather than engaging with a bunch of middle aged blokes who are clearly hung up on their pasts (and yes, attitude wise I do include well meaning blokes like PLT and the lady that goes in that), I'd go for focus groups at local primary and secondary schools. Ask them what they want, rather than telling them. I bet they wouldn't be storming out of a session because of goal music. As I said, given the choice I'd rather not hear goal music, but, it's not going to send me into a rage when I do. Booing? Get to ****. Walking out early? Get to ****. That is despicable behaviour that should not be expected from so called proper fans. 2 acts far worse than any playing of a tune that, lets be honest, we're not going to be hearing a lot in any case.
Well hostile is my word, not theirs. If they had it their way we'd have face painting in the stands and the lighthouse family at half time. The words 'sing or you're a Leeds fan' on the big screen before kick off would probably do it.
It is true that a certain part of the modern generation are not what fans used to be like. However it is upto the rest of us to show these people what a true fan is and does. The last person who tried to susssh me up got a right old ear full.
If goal music wasnt shocking enough!! I'm sat watching Jason and the Argonauts and googled Jason. Todd Armstrong killed himself in 1991 after contracting Aids. Shot himself. Shocked.
I fear that a 1974 chart smash might not be the song that gets the PlayStation generation flocking to the KC.
The reaction to yesterday's goal music has been 100% negative, everyone hates it, it makes **** all difference if your 16 or 60. The 'smartphone generation' spent yesterday afternoon using those smartphones to tell the club they're clueless. All is not lost, it seems the youth of today are not complete idiots after all. Unlike the middle aged ****ers who try and justify this ****e.
I like goal music for Clubs like ours , it drowns out the silence and non existant atmosphere at the KC Stadium The goal music is the only thing that makes you realise your not in a library
Legally I don't think we will be able to provide standing Lots of noise would involve my dream of a larger stadium and cheaper prices.
