Just a point about Chesterfield Avenue here in this lovely novice hurdle, although he is the outsider, he beat MARAKOUSH, a horse that beat Road To Respect 12L on his next start, and Road To Respect was beaten by Yorkhill (8 lengths, although the winner did that easily). There are some nice form ties and Chesterfield Avenue, whatever happens today, is one to keep an eye on.

Bellshill could well be ahead of Yorkhill sensing from how Ruby spoke there.

Seriously struggling to see any Cheltenham novice event Willie Mullins hasn't got by the absolute short and curlies. Could be another bonanza for Team Mullins come March!

Bellshill looks nice. Thats the first proper marker down for the Supreme. Hopefully over Christmas we'll see some of these other top novices meet and shake out the pecking order.

Had a small dabble last night on HARVEY LOGAN at 5/1. Seemed a shade unlucky last time out but these filthy handicaps are usually stay clears...

I backed Bentelimar last night beefy but no chance with the runaway winner, another horse scoots up out of the handicap like Aachen did midweek.

I think Ted will be taking his belt off and giving young Katie a few slaps for winning by that distance!

Alan King on Smad Place festival target:

Speaking in The Big Read in Sunday's Racing Post, King said: "I'm still not sure what to do about the King George. Deep down, I don't think we should go to Kempton, but it won't just be my decision and I'll be speaking to his owners, Trish and Peter Andrews.

"Come Cheltenham, I haven't ruled out the Ryanair either. I would rather win the Ryanair than finish fourth or fifth in the Gold Cup. A lot will depend on who ends up getting to the Gold Cup.

"Half the reason I would like to skip the King George is I think the Cotswold Chase will give us a better idea about what we should be doing at the festival. I know he ran in it last season, but he wasn't the same horse then."

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wins a Hennessey over 3m 2f by a distance but might be a Ryanair horse? <doh>

You wont be remembered for winning a Ryanair mate but you could be a part of one of the best Gold Cups for a long long time.

Wheres the ****ing competitive spirit gone?

I think Alan King and connections are entitled to run their horse where they see fit. Expensive things racehorses, and as they allude to a winning cheque for the Ryanair is so much better than a lower finishing spot in the Gold Cup. Yes he won't go into folklore but to win a Festival race, any, is magical, I'd bet.

Now where I agree with you is he's surely totally suited to the Gold Cup test, as the Hennessey suggested. I'd happily draw a line through last years run, different horse this season.

It's a bit like the opposite to the Tizzards with Cue Card last year, pretty much everyone here was saying he should go Ryanair as he won't stay the Gold Cup. Credit there ambition but you have to do right by the horse and run them in the race that suits best, regardless of fans wishes. Ironically in both cases I think both races are wrong for the horse, assuming Smad Place goes the shorter race.

Intetesting times ahead. Christmas will be a period where a lot of cards are played. The Lexus and King George will really shake up the markets of two races...

Afternoon lads and well done those among the winners. Had a small patent on 3 late races:

    3.05 Navan Sizing Titanium
    3.10 Carlisle Conquer Gold
    3.35 Navan Our Duke

Won't make me rich but will add a bit of interest to a slow Sunday afternoon.

Well The Don did say the Twister was like a rag doll in the saddle, he's certainly getting thrown around like one of late.
