What's worse? Being shamed over the tannoy for not having picked quick enough or being called 'Fat Cockney Bastard' by 50,000? Oh and Fat Mike is a twat.
£400 million wiped off the company value today (11% drop in share value) Part of which Mikey boy has loSt £237 million of his own http://www.theguardian.com/business...lowing-guardian-working-practices-revelations No doubt the value will bounce back, nowt will change, business as usual, ZHC a gogo, ka-ching. The man is a slug Also in today's grauniad http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/dec/10/court-rejects-mike-ashley-rangers-chairman-dave-king
Forgot to post the original investigative journalism ..that kicked this all off http://www.theguardian.com/business...irect-effectively-pays-below-minimum-wage-pay The man is even more of a slug
Ashley will have gotten a hard on reading that in the papers. He ****ing loves conflict with people and putting people down. I wonder who pissed on his chips and made him like that.
The more you read about this odious man the more I hate him. He runs his business like an 1800 era workhouse and I predict he will die a very lonely man and we all know that his mummy doesn't love him. The day he gets out of the toon will see street parties and the sooner the better.
I love these articles where shareholders are complaining about the way the company is run and the employees are treated when the main thing they are worried about is how it affects the value of their shares. If they really had a social conscience they would either sell the shares or try and effect change through shareholder meetings.
Agreed - but still think that 45% of shareholders creating a fuss about it would cause him to review his policies.
Apparently the drop in share price 'cost' him well over £200 million. The guy wont have even blinked at it......................... yet come January it will be bargain basement, third rate players that we will be looking at and we will still be haggling over £500k with some French second division outfit. Like I said in another thread, NUFC means **** all to Ashley, it is purely an advertising tool for his company. We will never, ever achieve any sort of success whilst he is here.
Shareholders creating a little bit of fuss, for a day or so, is just them deflecting any residual **** back towards Ashley. If Ashley said "Ok, ill pay all my workers a good, decent wage.............. but ill stop paying shareholders a dividend" what do you think they would say?
Exactly the point in my first post - no point getting all moral about it as shareholders if you are not prepared to put your money where your mouth is.
Honestly, every publicly traded retail company in the states is run this way. It's totally billshit. No vacation, no sick time...
Strange isnt it. The more developed the countries the more they are taking the pxss with working conditions. Its almost impossible to sack an employee here, they still get a termination payment amounting to 1-2 years salary unless the offence was so serious (theft, assault etc). Get 15min breaks 4 times a day just for praying plus 1hr for lunch and an extra hour on friday for praying and we pay them 2 extra months salary each year. Women can also take 1-2 days per month for when they are on their period. Salaries are much lower than UK but government enforces employment regulations.
Once again, this is not MA haggling over £500K on a player - this was always either CM/DL and now LC doing that!
As far as he's concerned there's no such thing as bad publicity. None of this means anything to those who shop at his tat shops. Walking around Caerdydd the other day I saw countless of shoppers all with newly purchased SD bags all full of bri-nylon **** from the Ashley empire. These people aren't going to stop going there not even if they're roasting babies in the shop windows.
There is a trend here then isn't there? All previous and our current MD are all trying to squeeze every last penny out of a deal................... I wonder why!! Sports Direct is well know to be run as a virtual dictatorship, with Ashley assuming the role of Pol Pot. It has been commented upon many times 'in the city' that he has far, far too much control over things. This is within a company he only owns just over half of. He owns all of NUFC................. and do you really think he leaves these things to Penfold!!! Lets not forget that NUFC is simply an advertising tool for Sports Direct, and just like their cheap, shoddy adverts on TV, Ashley will look to use his 'marketing tool as cheaply as possible. Don't be fooled by his drunken "my job is to provide the funds, their job is to spend it.........." bollocks. That was just another way of saying "its not my fault, honestly, please stop calling me names, I don't like it" I suspect that he has final say on any monies spent.
Of course he does, and it is his fault that we have missed out on many players to footballing giants like Swansea City and Southampton, despite having far superior financial resources. I'll believe he's changed his approach when I see us consistently invest in quality players in several transfer windows in a row, not blowing £50m in one window and thinking we'll all be fooled.
