Doesn't leave much for the Mullins trio to think about does it? Faugheen, Arctic Fire and Nichols Canyon all look very strong.

The UK seems to have The New One and My Tent Or Yours, both having failed previously and would have to be some turnaround. Anything else that might pop up?

My Tent may go to Ireland at Christmas according to Hendo- skipping a race with Faugheen and The New One.

Why not Old Guard? Clearly progressive and let's face it, if Faugheen isn't right then it's not a vintage crop. He seems to only do what is required so we don't know how good he is.

Harsh to use Our Conor when he sadly didn't get the chance to race in his prime. He was just a baby when the likes of HF beat him, and then he sadly fell in the CH as a 5yo. Who knows how good he could have been at 6 or 7:biggrin:

That's ridiculous. Just because a horse passed away doesn't change the fact he was repeatedly beaten when he stepped up.

If Old Guard wins the Champion Hurdle there will be a circular of my penis doing the rounds on Not606.

Christ, 3 in a line today and none of them anywhere near Champ Hurdle standard.

Arctic Fire and Nichols Canyon, never mind Faugheen, are in a different league to that lot today boys. I'd say The New One is the UKs best hope, so to rephrase that, there's no hope.

Thursday 16th June. England v Wales 2pm kick off??? What's that all about. Nearly all other games are evening. No ones going to be working that afternoon!! (Our 2nd game so we won't be out of the tournament yet).

As Bobs said its just not based on today though is it? The simple fact is the Triumph form just isn't working out. Hargams run like a Labrador a couple of times since, was better today granted, but the second Top Notch got beat by Irving whose a Grade 2/3 animal at best, then he got easily beaten by Identity Thief afterwards. As STH points out without a mistake at the last he'd have basically beat him on the snaff. No matter how you dice it up, it's not looking good at all!

Triumph horses rarely prosper as 5YOs .......................... its just nature. Anything aimed at the Triumph is a young speedster who is very unlikely to be good enough for a Champion Hurdle. The media have been doing their spin all summer in terms of Mullins best against Henderson's 1-2-3 from the Triumph but to be honest that is a non-contest. The only questions now are which of Mullins horses line up on the day and which one wins?

Lots of class acts have been beaten in the Supreme as youngsters and then gone onto improve in the following years. Sprinter Sacre was 3rd in one, and everyone was writing him off as a bridle horse who would never get up the hill. So who knows how Darlan would have turned out, he won the Christmas Hurdle like a high class horse

Faugheen wins it Oddy. That 2/1 after the defeat against Nichols Canyon was Christmas come early. If they both line up on the day Faugheen won't lose to NC.
