That's a good shout, however my money would be on Belgium being the dark horse. Much more rounded as a team, Lukaku appears to be in the form of his life too. They seem to have been patiently building for this as Spain did.

Group A France, Romania Albania, Switzerland

Group B: England, Wales, Slovakia, Russia

Group C: Germany, Northern Ireland, Poland, Ukraine

Group D: Spain, Turkey, Czech Republic, Croatia

Group E: Belgium, Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Italy

Group F: Portugal, Iceland, Hungary, Austria

Could be worse, but ROI and NI have hellish groups.

    Iceland v Austria
In all probability, Spain or Croatia (the runner up) v Belgium or Italy (the winner)

England start against Russia, then play Wales before concluding with Slovakia.

England should easily qualify for the next stage. I have a funny feeling England are going to go far in the tournament for a change. There may well be better teams like Spain and Germany, but as for the rest? Are England that inferior to anyone else? The only thing I would like England to make is to get rid of the anaemic all white kit. It is dreadful in the extreme and makes England look passionless. Red shirts and white shorts would be better.

Group D looks like the "Group of Death" with Spain, Croatia, Turkey and the Czech Republic. Croatia v Turkey could be a tinderbox!!

Is Capello still managing Russia or am I a bit behind times. If so gives fixture added interest.

Jim magilton must be one of ipswichs longest serving managers this season...

It's now Leonid Slutsky, who remains manager of CSKA Moscow, and is going to do both jobs simultaneously. Interesting idea...

England should wear a kit like they wore in the 1966 final.

England have flopped so many times in major tournaments after a promising qualifying campaign that one has to expect the same old story again. Let's see what happens. I hope Hodgson doesn't turn up at the tournament and lose the plot with his team selection, and tactics, like he did at the world cup.

I say bring in Geoff Hurst to replace that Jimmy Greaves. In other words, anyone but Rooney up top.

I don't agree with people slagging off Rooney because he has always been so willing to play for England and has sometimes been let down by having to do too much to make up for deficiencies elsewhere in the team. However, I agree he is no longer at his peak and we need someone else to put in that same commitment. The shame is not playing Rooney so much, but not having an obvious replacement. Time for someone to be given a chance.

We're not short of players with goals in them, so you could drop Rooney, provided the other options are fit. Not sure why you would though? It's true we've occasionally seemed to have a better balance without him; but he's never done much wrong in an England shirt.

Would anyone seriously object if Saints announced him as a surprise signing?

Just been doing some path plotting. If we win the group then our path will look something like this:

    R16: Romania/Albania/Poland/Ukraine/NI/Czech/Turkey
    QF: Portugal/Belgium/Italy
    SF: Spain
    F: Germany/France

If we come second, it will look something like this:

    R16: Iceland/Austria
    QF: France
    SF: Germany
    F: Spain

If we come third (and are one of the top four 3rd place sides), then there are two possible paths:

    R16: Spain
    QF: Switzerland/Poland/Ukraine
    SF: Portugal/Belgium/Italy
    F: Germany/France

    or

    R16: Germany
    QF: Belgium/Italy
    SF: France
    F: Spain

I think our pathway after the group stage will be

    1 Charles de Gaulle
    2 Orly
    3 Eurostar
    4 Normandy Ferries

I just hope that Wales do well and get out of the group stage. Anything after that will be a huge bonus.

I thought that but as they are second round it is still pretty vague!

By any chance, do you like me, have tickets for match 43 in Paris?!
