Agree on that point too. Really struggling to understand why we look so poor this season and its not just the last few games, we no longer have that attractive flowing style that scared the s#$t out of teams last year and won us so much praise.
Assuming we don't score in the next 3 minutes. I don't think there's much more that Ron can do. We will sort it out but until then, it's not gonna be fun. That could be the end of Stekelenburg's Saints career.
Gazzaniga has been quality in this game. This is exactly the point of many that weren't happy with Stekelenburg against Liverpool. I'd be picking Gazzaniga over Stekelenburg after today. Gazzaniga is so much more athletic, a way better shot stopper.
I'm not sure Tintin. I mean, yeah, my head agrees with you, but the reality is that if it wasn't working, whereas a 4-2-3-1 would be better, then we'd notice a significant improvement whenever the shift occurred. There is no improvement in reality. So the 'preferred' formation isn't working as much as 3 at the back wasn't. You may well be right and it might have been better earlier, but we can't know that really. I don't think we're losing this because of formations is the point, it's because we're on our arses confidence-wise and particularly scoring-wise. If it wasn't for Gazza being inspired, we'd be two or three down now, whatever the formation.
The only positive is Gazzaniga. Quality performance. I thought Koeman had ruined it when I saw the selection. Turns out I was right. Absolutely dreadful selection. Why no tadic?
The manager certainly isn't to blame for the piss poor defending on the goal. Fonte and Van Dijk had a mare. Nor is Koeman to blame for Hennessey's wonder save. Gazzaniga has also kept us in the game. I still think you change system asap if 3 at the back is going no where. No need to have three centre backs on the park when you're trailing.
Is there a worse striker in the prem than Shane long. He must be a better right back than a striker, he couldn't score by accident
Last five games: Stoke (home) - loss Man City - loss Liverpool (home) - loss Villa (home) - draw Palace - loss Goals: 3 Goals against: 12 Next four games: Spurs (home) Arsenal (home) West Ham (away) Norwich (away) Koeman he is definitely under pressure now for the first time considering the fixtures coming up. Hopefully we can turn this around with a win against Spurs. Best to forget today completely now. Team for Spurs home for me. --------------Pelle --------------Mane -Tadic-------------------Davis ------Romeu-Wanyama -Bertrand-VVD-Fonte-Cedric -----------Gazzaniga--------
Hopefully a game against a more expansive, 'bigger' team, plus the Pochettino factor might inspire a performance out of us. On the flip side, we're pretty awful against teams that press us hard.
Koeman isn't under pressure really. We know what this team is capable of, but not firing at the moment. He is still the right man. We need a new striker, and our chances have to be taken.
Koeman can't be blamed completely. The players lacked enthusiasm Crystal Palace were dancing around our players, we never did. They created clear chances, we made ONE in the 93rd minute. It looks like we play one extra game in midweek than every else.
