Good half of football. Everyone zipping the ball around better, retaining the ball better, better shape. By all accounts, this is like chalk and cheese in comparison to the last 11 games. Curtis has picked a fairly defensive formation for today with 2 DMs giving licence to roam to the forwards. It will be nice to see him change it up for the next two games when we should be able to become more expansive. I think one of Monk's downfalls was that he very rarely changed things up this season. He seemed to believe that one team, same players and same formation is all he needed (which is in stark contrast to his record breaking season). If Curtis can show that he can pick a more attacking team and formation against sides we have the ability to dominate, then he's setting us back on the right path. Horses for courses.
Although Curtis was saying the right things to show loyalty to Monk , this line up shows Curtis knew the error of Monks ways . Bartley not even making the bench , giving Cork a go , using the squad in general , basically giving everyone the green light to use their imagine nation and giving Britton a huge responsibility in defence.. The inter play by Ayew and Siggy in this line up is superb
I'll bet if Tabanou was available today , Curtis would have started him Great job Leon ... Pick up the slack Cork ...great job Routs. Might have to wheel Barrow out of there after that challenge .
Another great decision to take Leon off and bringing Montero on and now Barrow on. Two wide flyers and Curtis is going all out for it. Great substitutions.
